overview of my tanning process part 2: rehydrating + pickling (part 1 here)

middle four pictures are the hide right after rehydration from being salt dried, then after pickling 12+hrs. i’ll let him pickle for at least another day or two before moving on to detail fleshing/shaving to ensure he’s 100% pickled first, but the skin won’t really whiten any more than it has already until i shave+degrease it

the pickling acid i use is rittel’s saftee acid.
