I have this deep seethed belief that Gatsby believes the world is too cruel to men, granted he also understands, perhaps even more deeply that men are often the perpetrators of said cruelty.
Either way, he in turn, pampers himself and his femininity.
And later, when it is his right, he will nurture and pamper Nick too, in all his callousness .
This thought surfaced and is particularly important to me now because, while Nick doesn’t have an established past ;
I read an amazing fic where he had a rather rough upbringing - mostly psychological with those formative physical abuses here and there that have well, toughened him up.
I think my Gatsby would pair perfectly with that so I am stealing it <3
