“Why didn’t you tell me?” Maria asked, setting her hands on his cheeks. “You didn’t say a word of what happened, Reid!” She had to learn from an anonymous person that he was shot while she was gone and landed himself in the infirmary. She was just afraid. 

“I--I could have been there for you I could’ve---” A couple tears began in her eyes and he wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into a hug and ruffling her hair. He didn’t even have to say a word for her to know what that meant. Rather quickly, Reid had become like a brother to her and she wouldn’t know what to do without him anymore. He was the only family she had in the palace. She needed him. 

“I’m sorry, Reid,” She said, though the words muffled in his shoulder as she cried. “I’m so sorry.”

After Rhegan had left her, it had taken her a few tries to get back on her feet. She had to take her heels off and fling them off in a random direction before she was able to stand. Fuck her shoes. Fuck her- Wait. Where was her knife? The bitch had taken it. She groaned, her shoulder burning as she tried to ignore it. Her favorite knife was gone and it was all her fault. Why had she been so confident? Maybe this was a sign...

She got to the infirmary after a considerable amount of time, and her clothes blood soaked, and all she could do was ask for Reid. She had fainted before they had gotten her into a bed, so when she woke up she was patched up, bandaged, and in an unfamiliar bed with familiar beeping sounds. But where was Reid? She had asked for him.
