The foundation is the relationship between the husband and wife. 2) In the original design, a man must work. Its is not enough to just have a job. Work is a God given mandate on your life, whether you are employed or not. It also creates opportunities for you. 3) As a man you have no business looking for a spouse if you have not found your purpose and are not actively pursuing it. Her job is to support you to do your WORK. 4) As a woman, you have no business being with a man who does not work. Unless you want to help him to...not work!! 5) For men, the need in marriage is to have a place of safety where their WORK (life mandate is supported, validated and honored). In other words - respect. A man treasures a woman who is able to do this. 6) For a woman, the need in marriage is to have a husband who is love to her - i.e. embodies the character of love and protection; as opposed to the feelings of being in love. Also a man must be an enabler for a woman to explore and expand her own mandate. 7) So, when we look for a spouse, we should look for people that are able to meet these qualities: -Will she/he contribute and add value to your God given mandate? -Is their life mandate aligned to yours? -Does he/she embody the character of love?
