Race is such a good gambler not because he can hide his emotions but because he can't. When someone first plays against him they expect him to be so easy because his emotions are written all over his face and then when they lose they're like what the f***?

Races face is constantly shifting expressions too so reading them half the time is like nearly impossible. Everyone thinks it's a pattern at first so they do everything, they try to match his expressions to their moves, they lose. They do the opposite, they lose. They do a mix and they lose.

They don't understand that Race's mind is going 20 miles per minute and his face can't hide that. His ADHD has him in some lala land while half of Brooklyn lodging is 20 games deep in trying to figure him out. Race does know how to lock in when needed and then continues to throw off the newsies.

He is one of the hardest newsies to play with because of it. When it comes to betting hes pretty good but not as great, as we see in the movie, but it's when hes playing hes unbeatable. I swear at some point different boroughs were sending their best gambling newsies to try and beat him and each time he walked out with more money in his pocket.

The draw back is either Spot or Jack, sometimes both, always have to be there when he plays. Some newsies don't take to kind to losing to a kid and accuse him of cheating. To make sure Racer doesnt get soaked they keep the boys in line. Jack doesnt need his kid brother hurt and Spot would die before he let someone else's wounded pride put a hand on Racetrack.
