As many of you know, one feature of a school like UCLA is that the majority of faculty are research faculty - and they are here pursuing a research agenda for the university. This is good because we can supposedly provide you with more cutting edge material. But there are drawbacks too - like the fact that we are hired based on our research and not necessarily on our teaching ability
