Activists from Black Lives Matter, Black Youth Project 100, and We Charge Genocide shut down a Chicago Police Board meeting on Thursday night. The activists took action to demanded the firing of Detective Dante Servin, the officer who was acquitted in the fatal shooting of Rekia Boyd. Boyd's brother, Martinez Sutton, spoke passionately about his sister's death and pleaded that Servin be fired "For three years, my family has been disrespected,....

It’s sad to say, but if Rekia was Rakeem...ya’ll know the rest...SMMFH
Yo, it’s amazing how much more attention the murder of a black man gets versus a black woman.
No one fucking caused havoc for her. Where were all the articles and pictures and reblogs and retweets?
let’s not even get started on our trans family.
Misogyny is alive and well in ALL spaces and the revolution will never happen if the most marginalized people aren’t at the center of focus (those people are not black men).
Legal Teach-in for Rekia Boyd
Join us on Wednesday, April 29th at DePaul University College of Law, 25 E Jackson Blvd., Room 905, Chicago at 6pm!
On Monday, April 20th, Dante Servin was acquitted of killing Rekia Boyd when a judge granted his defense attorney's motion for a directed verdict. Servin was never even required to present his defense. This is a very rare move, and it's hard to understand why this happened. Come to this teach-in to learn about the legal basis of the judge's decision, the standards for a DOJ prosecution of Servin, and to strategize together about how best to move forward. Attorneys Rabya Khan (CAIR-Chicago) Joey Mogul (People's Law Office), Alan Mills (Uptown People's Law Center), and Cliff Nellis (Lawndale Christian Legal Center) will be present to provide an overview of the law and answer questions. This is a public event geared toward those supporting Rekia's family and organizing around accountability for Servin. This event is co-sponsored by: - National Lawyers Guild Chicago - Project NIA - CAIR-Chicago - Uptown People's Law Center - People's Law Office - Lawndale Christian Legal Center - Black Lives Matter Chicago - Women's All Points Bulletin - T.U.P.O.C.C The United People of Color Caucus of the NLG - Chicago Chapter - DePaul NLG
Another white cop getting away with murder. This time, off-duty chicago officer Dante Servin was acquitted this past Monday after shooting 22 year old Rekia Boyd in cold murder in the back of the head.
We must stand for our black sisters in this movement work.
