#truly I know I need therapy around this I know it’s due to a combo of deep seated attachment issues and the retraumatising way in which the #relationship ended #I just can’t let them go #just now what we made me think of them was I was having a convo w my friend (who is butch) about the Barbie movie #and I was trying to explain how the expression of hyper femininity in the film really resonated with a certain part of me in relation to #gender presentation #and how I like to feel in my body in a way that I often can’t access or express in a way that feels safe/joyful #I was expressing something that feels important and exciting to me #and my friend was just really dismissive of everything I said bc she felt annoyed by the presentation of hyper femininity bc it wasn’t #reflective of her experience #(which ofc I understand! but I don’t think it necessitated being dismissive of my feelings and experiences)#and it made me think of something I loved w my ex (who was also butch) was that we would have really interesting conversations about our #experiences of gender and gender presentation and how that affected our way of moving through the world and our interactions etc #with understanding for and curiosity about the other’s experience #if I had shared those feelings w my ex they never would have dismissed me and would have been interested to excited to hear how I felt #just made me sad #that particular dynamic in our relationship felt really important and fulfilling to me #and it’s not something I’ve been able to experience elsewhere #idk the more time that passes the more and more I find myself feeling like my ex was someone I should have been with for a long time and I #fucked it up!#but ofc that may also be the rose tinted glasses and the fact that I haven’t been able to date anyone else over the past almost four years #personal
