Why do we have to show affection by posting it online?
This is something that has been bothering me for a while and I really need to vent about it.
Facebook is both an angel and a blessing at the same time (though sometimes I argue more towards a demon) in the fact that you can share anything with the world. You can share artwork online, track events happening near you, keep in contact with long distant friends and even contact friends that you lost. However, people can get a little hungry when it comes to sharing everything. Especially when it comes to relationships. Facebook at one time didn't exist (duh) so how did people share what their significant others get them or do something for them with their 500 friends?
They didn't. They just didn't. And I don't think they had an urge to. Sure, they would maybe show off to their friends and gush about how loving their boyfriend/girlfriends is. But to strangers and friends they hardly knew, it didn't matter, and it shouldn't matter; So why do people find it necessary to do that now? Why do I have to post things that my boyfriend does for me (and visa-versa), when I already tell him how appreciative I am and how happy I am to him. Why does it matter that I post about things we do just to get 'likes' of a few comments saying 'awwwwwww!'?
I'd rather be thankful that my boyfriend loves the gift I got him and that's all that should matter. I don't care about what others think, and honestly I don't really need all of my friends knowing that every time we go on an outing we had a great time. It should be a given if you're happy; it could lead to a lot of lies in a relationship at that point. And if I'm really happy about something or excited, I should post on my own terms. I shouldn't wake up with texts saying: 'you never make status's about me' or 'you never posted about that gift I gave you'. It's forceful and honestly quite annoying.
All i'm really asking is why do people think it's an obligation to have to post about everything considering their/your relationship online?
