It's a good day to put on my black pointy hat and say to myself: I'm still a witch, even though I've had to put my practice on hold because I've been ill. The gods, spirits, guides, ancestors, and divine beings, they all want me to put myself first and take the best care of myself. They'll always be here for me, I just need to focus on getting better.

*Steve Rogers voice* So, you wanna know how to cleanse yourself of ill will, evil eyes, curses, hexes, and over all bad juju placed on or at ya? Keep reading ;

I’m gonna walk you through how I was taught to do the egg cleanse and this will vary from traditional practice to practice and practitioner to practitioner, I’m gonna give you one of the ways I do it that I can share.

You need an egg, rubbing alcoh*l, sea salt, and vinegar.

Dumb some rubbing alcoh*l over the egg, praying/telling it to “Cleanse and capture any negativity, evil eyes, curses, hexes, jinxes, jealousy, black magic, ill intent, evil, witchcraft, brujería, voodoo, hoodoo, and root work. Placed on to or at me”

Rub the egg over yourself from head to toe going in a downward motion like you’re showering off something. Crack the egg in a clear glass of water, DO NOT LOOK AT IT FROM THE TOP! Flush that sht down the toilet DONT LOOK AT IT!

After that you’re going to wash your hands with sea salt and vinegar, reciting the same prayer from above. After and for three nights before you go to bed you’re gonna recite two prayers:

One is the Saint Michael protection prayer and the second is to Saint Peter;

‘O venerable Apostle Saint Peter, prince of the redeemer's disciples and the first to proclaim Jesus the son of God and messiah, hear and heed all my prayers. Glorious Saint Peter, you who were called by the savior "Fisher of men" and received the title of cornerstone of the church.

You who are the custodian of the keys to the gates of heaven and who always help those on earth who request it, I ask you to cover and protect me with your shadow, free me, Saint Peter, blessed from the evil that haunts me.

Protect me from diseases and ills, keep me from spells and witchcraft and incantations and bad eyes, falsehood, selfishness and resentment, from barriers, chains and prisons, clear my ways of traitor and evildoer, drive away all pain with your shadow, hide me from all danger, enemy and bad situation, be my help and defense, I ask you with fervor and lend me today I beg you, your special favor.

O dear Peter, holy apostle of the Lord, do not leave me without an answer, by your benevolence and virtue, promptly attend to my request, you who are a brother, friend and protector of whom your help demands, help with your shadow those in need and watch and take care of us all with your holy clarity.

We ask this through Jesus Christ, our going out, who lives and reigns in the unity of the Father and the Holy Spirit, for ever and ever. Amen.’

You do not have to be religious to practice witchcraft. You do not have to align with any particular religion or deity. You can be skeptical and atheist and still be a witch. Everyone has a unique path. Religion does not have to be a part of yours.

Mabon

It's Mabon in Australia, Mabon is the Autumnal Equinox and the harvest before winter (the second harvest), it is also a period of time where day and night are equal in time. It is a great time to reflect on what you've achieved as its traditionally about celebrating the harvest you've reaped.

Ways you can reflect on what you've achieved are

Take out all your projects and put them together to admire, you may like to make a little temporary gallery for your projects. (maybe recommit to half done projects)

Ré-read your Book of Shadows or Grimoire

Look through your calendars, planners, habit trackers and note books to see what you've done, who you've met up with.

Look through photos of the last year

Mabon is also about abundance, graditude, balance, and preparing for winter. Other ideas for Mabon are

Reflect on what's abundant in your life

Make a list of things you are thankful for

Write thank you letters to people important in your life

Assemble a cornucopia or beautiful display of produce

Cook with ingredients there are abundance of at the moment, particularly in your area. (However apples and warming spices are popular for Mabon)

Evaluate how you can bring or maintain balance into your life.

If you grow edibles it's a great time to learn a preserving technique for any excess harvest

Prepare the home for winter, bring out your duvets and blankets, refresh protections, try knitting or crocheting a scarf. Edit: an interesting knitting project is the miser's purse, which is used to store two pockets of change but in witchcraft you could use it to symbolise balance and duality while holding items. You can use two opposing colours to really cement the duality theme.

I feel drawn to witchcraft, like, I've been reading some things about it and was gifted a tarot deck recently, but I was born and raised Catholic, so whenever I try practice anything I feel guilty. Like in my head, I see it as though I'm going to be punished for being queer and a witch so i just try to not. be a witch. because then it won't be too bad. So if anyone has tips or something, to get over this? or not feel so guilty? I'd really appreciate it 💖
