1. top five movies?
Oof, that's a tall order. I don't really have a metric, so I'll just name five movies that I really, really like, in no particular order; Rango, The Simpsons Movie, The Big Lebowski, Dragon Ball: Battle of the Gods, Ed, Edd, N Eddy: Big Picture Show
2. one character that describes you?
Hm... I dunno, it's kinda hard to really point at a character and go, "That's totally me~!" But if I had to choose one character that I relate most to, I'd say; Kasuga Ichiban from Yakuza: Like A Dragon
3. favorite song at the moment?
I've got a couple of songs on my mind, earworms and all that, the loudest of them being; Show Me by Melv
4. all time favorite album?
I was gonna say something like one of the NSP albums, since they're my favorite band, but I'm gonna instead give it to the album that I can't think of a single bad track to it; Star Lord: Space Rider from the Guardians of the Galaxy video game
5. favorite fruit?
Apples. Always apples. Bananas are a close second, but bananas don't have over a dozen varieties that I also love. Oh, favorite food? In that case, then I'd say pierogis. It's mashed potatos inside of a pastry~! What could be better~?!
6. favorite time of day?
Out of the whole 24 hours? Hm... I guess I'd say 7pm, since it's the end of the workday, bath/shower is done, and there's still plenty of time to relax with a game or book or other hobby.
Now, who's next to be learned about?
@sketchfan85 , @jojorinqueen , @gorillageek27 , , @spectralpixelsredone , @truedarksword , @itsupermanti , @itsouttherenow , @epic-arc , and @palaceofpassion

i think americans should have to put a banner above their post that says U.S. CENTRIC ADVICE/INFORMATION. i think political posts should clarify that they are giving protest/societal/class information relevant only to the USA i think i would like to stop getting halfway through a post with really good information and then realising it is not widespread advice and is only applicable in the united states of america
for the love of GOD can we PLEASE stop treating us-centric advice as applicable to the whole entire world. Please. beyond anything else, i do not think you guys understand how difficult it makes it for young people to interact with and learn information relevant to them.
at a certain point, treating us-american advice as universally applicable borders on misinformation. i am not saying that it is done maliciously, but it is dangerous at worst. i do not want younger people going around assuming that certain laws do/do not apply to them and getting in trouble because of it. i worry about what 'fundamental/constitutional/labour rights' are only legally defensible in the USA. i worry about kids who do not know yet to wonder where the advice is for, and take it as fact because a post that reads "EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW THIS" begins with "EVERYONE".
okay yes all the tags are very very good points but i would like to point out the main reason i made this post, which is that
if you are non-american then it can be dangerous to hold beliefs about your rights that are only applicable in the US.
i am australian and i have seen young australians have completely us-american perceptions on the rights they hold (or do not hold) in regards to protest, police officers, self-defense, medical care, higher education, debt, and legal proceedings. i am not talking about "boooo americans" i am talking about the genuine danger it might present to have us-centric assumptions in high-stakes situations
(please do not chalk this up to 'if you don't do research then you are stupid'. i made this post with young people in mind. that being said i am willing to bet it also applies to others, ie those who are newer to non-local internet, older folks, or those escaping high-control environments.)
Lancer sounds cool. I gotta find the time to get a group one of these days
When you're a kid you just take trees for granted. Then when you get to be an adult you realize that a fully mature tree cannot be created in an amount of time that fits in a convenient landscaping timeframe for love nor money nor all the powers of science. Then you realize that people are very very very cavalier about chopping them down

(The scene - Pyrrha and Nora are sitting on the couch with Ruby and Weiss. Pyrrha has an arm wrapped around Nora's shoulder while the former is on her scroll. Weiss is sitting with her bare feet on Ruby's lap while the leader is on her scroll. Oh, and it's also Non-Descript Winter Holiday.)
Pyrrha: I've been thinking about getting Jaune a juicer for the holidays.
Nora: Oh, really?
Pyrrha: Mhm. I've been seeing him drink a lot more juice lately. What do you think, Nora?
Nora: I think whatever you get him will be fine~.
Pyrrha: You know, talking that way doesn't help me!
Click~!
Ruby: (Realizes her scroll's flash is on, Immediately set scroll aside, Folds hands)
Well, damn. I never thought I'd see a bit actually following with Ruby being homophobic. Equally so with the actual phobia part of the word that you did for Jaune.
The wider stage of the world's social media has oversaturated people with the stupid notion that being against something is because you're afraid of it.
Trauma is a real thing. I don't know how people got under the impression that being LGBT makes you unable to inflict trauma on people.
Gotta say though, Blake and company in the linked post are going the entirely wrong way about it. Really, they see one person being what they aren't happy with and they immediately dogpile him. This is the sort of thing which pushes someone to backing their own fears by justifying them.
Kras... I made the post, howling rebloged it.
I literally did it because I wanted to be funny.
... WELL, SHIT.

Jaune: (Grinning, Beaming, Smiling)
Pyrrha: ...Stop acting like a jackass.
Jaune: H-Huh? What? What do you mean?
Pyrrha: The way you're walking around like you're the best. You won one fight against Cardin. Don't get a big head about it.
Jaune: You wouldn't understand what it's like, Pyrrha... You've never been stuck to the shadows...
Pyrrha: Hm?
Jaune: (Grabs) DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW GREAT IT IS FOR PEOPLE TO FINALLY LOOK UP TO YOU?! LET ME LIVE A LITTLE, HUH?!
Pyrrha: I can't believe you'd openly admit something like that at maximum volume...

ivan in west virginia
all his neighbours immediately distrust him because he’s russian and they haven’t gotten over the red scare and also no one new has moved in to the town in almost a decade
but then he participates in podunknowheresville’s annual lawnmower race with a monstrosity made from scrap metal and far too much duct tape and he wins second place in a neck-and-neck final round against sam americason, the most anti-russian man in the village
and ivan is scared that he blew his one chance to get accepted by the community but then sam jumps off his lawnmower and pats ivan on the back and says “you did good, brother. i’m sorry i misjudged you. looks like hillbillies are the same no matter what country we come from. you’re just like us, ivan. guess our redneck town has room for a little extra red” and everybody laughs and the credits roll while the ussr national anthem gets played on a banjo and washboard
Seconding Ivan in West Virginia
From the depths of /k/ arrives something to fit this perfectly.
If text is to be translated to how the character is, then IVAN CHESNOKOV is confirmed to be partially deaf, and have terrible English. He is also forklift certified to a professional degree.
Generally fine and dandy with most things in America (as is normal for people coming in from the second world) but man, oh man, does his temper and passionate fixation surge when he sees people being stupid with firearms.
It's like Borat, but more violent.
In the words of Bajur for Jorge-052, "He's got some confusing mannerisms, I don't fully understand him, and I love him with all my heart."
(RIP the real Ivan, though)
Hey. Why isn’t the moon landing a national holiday in the US. Isn’t that fucked up? Does anyone else think that’s absurd?
It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! That’s a big deal! I’ve never thought about it before but now that I have, it’s ridiculous to me that that’s not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why don’t we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!
It’s July 20th. That’s the day of the moon landing. Next year is going to be the 54th anniversary. I’m ordering astronaut shaped cookie cutters on Etsy and I’m going to have a goddamn potluck. You’re all invited.
Hey. Hey. Tumblr. Ides of March ppl. We can do this
Hell yeah moon holiday
Ooh coming up we should celebrate
PITCH: We call it Moon Day, and then every 7 years when it falls on a Monday, that's an even BIGGER deal and we call that Moon Day Monday and go absolutely apeshit about it (the next Moon Day Monday is in 2026 so we have a couple trial runs first)
MOON DAY MOON DAY MOON DAY
moon day is 20th July!!!
Scheduling this a day earlier to remind you all and myself about the Moon Day tomorow!
Happy moon day to all who celebrate
This is your reminder to prep for Moon Day on July 20th.
MOON DAY MONDAY THIS MONTH NOT A DRILL!!!!!
Friendly reminder that Moon Day Monday, the day in which we celebrate the American moon landing of July 20th, 1969, the first moon landing in human history, 57 years ago and the triumph of humanity over the limitations of not only the world within which we live, but also over ourselves, happens
N E X T W E E K
Prometheus, they said brought gods' fire down to man and we've caught it, tamed it, trained it since our history began! Now we're going back to heaven just to look him in the eye...! And there's a thunder 'cross the land, and a fire in the sky!
Gagarin was the first, back in nineteen-sixty-one When like Icarus, undaunted, he climbed to reach the sun...! And he knew he might not make it, for it's never hard to die...! But he lifted off the pad! And rode a fire to the sky...!
Yet a higher goal was calling and we vowed to reach it soon and we gave ourselves a decade to put fire on the Moon! And Apollo told the world we can do it if we try! And there was one small step and a fire in the sky!
Then two decades from Gagarin, twenty years to the day There was a shuttle named Columbia to open up the way! Though they say she's just a truck, she was a truck that's aiming high...! See her big jets burning! See her fire in the sky...!
Now, the rest is up to us. There's a future to be won! We must turn our faces outward we must do what must be done! For no cradle lasts forever! Every bird must learn to fly! We are going to the stars! See our fire in the sky!!!
A thing no one talks about re: ADHD is that you can't... gain experience, the way other people do.
I don't mean you can't get good at things through repeated practice. You can do that, I have done that, but I don't trust it.
I was driving this morning and thinking about how I have never developed the blasé contempt for it most people seem to despite never having caused an accident in 20 years because my sense of time is such that I might as well have been driving for a week. I'm a good, safe driver, but I do not have a heap of confidence in my driving despite having regularly done it for two decades because my sense of time is such that those two decades may as well not have happened.
I finished editing a novel today. When I publish it, it will be the 64th novel I have published in the last 10 years, not counting ghostwritten work. You'd think after a decade and 63 novels I'd be confident that I was capable of writing, editing, and publishing a novel—even be confident about the timeline for this—but no. No, I feel like I'm doing it for the first time, every time, and I was surprised to have finished the editing at all, let alone on time. Because those other 63 novels were published in a past I have a vague at best concept of. I have a record that says it happened but I do not feel it.
I cannot trust my future behaviour because for me there is functionally no past. I know it occurred, I have records, but I don't feel it the way people without this kind of memory issue do. I feel inexperienced at everything I've ever done and I cannot accurately estimate my skill level at anything, particularly not on the fly.
I don't have a solution to this I just find it an incredibly frustrating phenomenon.
The downside to every day being a new day.
It's not helped by the internet at large, which by function encourages the constant dismissal of information after it's parsed and processed.
In terms of schools of thought - the likes of things which are passed on to others to teach, or build common ground - consistency is more than load-bearing. It is foundational.
When few things are consistent, the building-up of things becomes prioritized lower than making sure what you relied on hasn't been fucked with.
When very few things will reliably not pull the rug out from beneath you, it's difficult at best to care about the wider whole. Information, or rather the memetic structures built up from information that withstands the test of time, becomes less valuable when what it conveys does not pass the reality check.
Every day being a new day means nothing is guaranteed to pass that test.
With anything and everything being able to be anything, and do anything, in terms of available options for laying down roots there comes to be few to be seen.
That is the metaphor to use, alright; gaining experience is the same thing as laying down roots. The act is necessary because its outcome feeds the growing and developing of what you know you can rely on. Trees do tend to grow, but not even that is trustworthy. Not when how you live shows clearly that the ground's just going to give way, crumble, dry up, turn fallow or what-have-you.
So, says the unconscious mind; 'just what is the sense in trying?'
Going back to my own past posts and prior words might as well be archaeology, with how every time I have to puzzle out what I had been thinking when I wrote what I did.
Whether the information is crucial, life-saving, trivial, job-requirement, casual trivia, fun entertainment... all of it blends together until it's a staticky mess. Few things are the same across time, and like so are the reference points.
I think we'll be novices forever.
