Remember Grenfell two years on, 14th June 2017 was not that long ago
Remember the little baby that was asleep and passed away
Remember the brother reading Quran in a quiet room who missed the opportunity to leave without realising
Remember the the older uncle who was unwell and unable to leave and his two children who refused to leave him there alone
Remember the kid thats meant to be in school right now learning but isnt
The people coming home from tarawih who did everything they could to get as many people out as possible
Remember the people who came home from fajr and learnt about what was happening and hurried over to give aid in anyway possible
Remember the aftermath and how the community came together
Remember the first janazah and how everyone in the community was there paying respects and offering to pay the funeral costs
And remember the vile people that live in the neighbourhood who wanted Grenfell Tower to be upgraded to not be an “eye-sore”, they have blood on their hands
Remember the people who cut corners to save money on cladding that enabled this inferno to spread, they too have blood on their hands
And remember the tory government that said they’d do everything they could to bring justice but have yet to do anything
Once again remember the 72
To remember some is to honour them and to remember others is to hold them to account..
Love Knows No Bounds-The Truth Comes Out
Hours later, John finally walks through the door of the Winchester home. He finds Dean still sitting at the table, a half a case of empty beer bottles in front of him.
"Damn son," John chuckles, not realizing the severity of the situation. "Leave any for me?" He opens the fridge and pulls out his own drink.
"How could you?" Dean demands. Although he is working on his 6th or 7th beer, his speech is impeccably not slurred. "How could you do that?"
John stops mid-drink and levels his eyes to meet Dean's. "Listen, not that it is any of your business but things haven't always been peachy between your mom and me. We hit a rocky patch about 13 years ago and I fucked up, okay?"
"Sounds like you fucked another woman. One who wasn't your wife," Dean retorts. He is pissed, beyond pissed. He listened to Mary's sobs as they left the diner after that kid, Adam, had confronted them. He heard her pleas that it all be a lie. And yes it had hurt him. It caused an ache deep in his chest to see the woman he loved saddened over her husband's infidelity. No, she wasn't completely innocent in anything but watching and hearing his mom break down like she did pulled at his heart. He wanted to make it all better, and in his half-drunk state, accosting John and making him admit to his wrongdoings would help.
"Listen here, son," John begins but Dean cut him off.
"I'm not your son!" Dean yells as he pushes away from the table and stands to his full height. Only a few inches shorter than John, he steps up to him. "I'm not a Winchester! I'm a Campbell and we have this thing we call self-respect," Dean sneered. "I'm proud not to be a Winchester right now! No wonder your own father took off and left you. Even at a young age he could already tell what a piece of shit you'd turn out to be, " Dean spat as he stood toe-to-toe with the older man.
John just stared at Dean. The words rolling around in his head. "What the hell are you talking about, Dean? You are a Winchester. Yea, you have Campbell blood in you but you…" John trailed off as realization hit him. "All those times Samuel would be at the house when I got home from work….you mean he was… she was...they were… sleeping together?"
Dean stood there, staring at the man in front of him, the man who raised him. He nodded slightly and watched as the fight bleed out of John. "It makes sense. The month you were conceived, we had an argument about it," John explained as he ran a hand through his salt-and-pepper hair. "He was always there. Always. I thought it was because he was too clingy, that he didn't want to let her grow up. I knew losing Deana had hit him hard and I just wanted us to be able to have our own life," John ran and hand down his face. "We didn't even sleep in the same room for three weeks. Then Mary tells me she is pregnant and we put our differences aside. We were-I was happy. We were starting our own family. I could finally be a better father than Henry ever was."
Dean felt sorrow for the broken man in front of him. Yes, he had made a mistake but he had been living a lie for 25 years, thinking that he was raising his own family when it wasn't his at all. It still pissed Dean off that the seemingly happy childhood John Winchester had provided him had just been an illusion, Adam Milligan was proof of that. He had to defend Mary, right? That was the right thing to do.
The ringing of John's phone broke the silence that had permeated the air. He pulled it from his pocket and sighed. "I got to get back to work. Was only supposed to take an hour for lunch. It's been 3." With that, he walked away from Dean and out of the room. When the front door slammed, Dean startled out of his stupor and went to check on Mary.
Hours later, as Mary is preparing dinner and Dean is stewing in his room, the doorbell rings. When Dean comes downstairs, he is met with a sight he wouldn't wish on his worst enemy. Two uniformed officers are standing there and he hears the words, "Ma'am, there's been an accident and your husband has been rushed to the hospital."
