One of the reasons Hollow Knight resonated with me on an emotional level was through the very concept and the imagery alone. You're wandering the ruins of a once great kingdom, once full of life, now nothing but a corpse of itself that's been in a stasis, zombified and waiting for something to finally end its misery. You can only see fragments, a memory, a dream, so distant and fleeting
"Each of us leaves an imprint of something when we die. A stain on the world. I don't know how much longer this kingdom can bear the weight of so many past lives…" is honestly the journal entry that stuck with me the most because it reminds me so much of where I am, I don't know how much longer my land can bear the weight of so many past lives that will never get closure.
