Being around others tends to help. The writer’s block, that is. It’s easier when she can people watch, drawing inspiration from folks living their lives, minding their business, going about their day, but even her usual trick has reached a dead end. Nothing seems to be able to break up the traffic jam in her head. Just when she thinks she might have a breakthrough, her grand idea gets stuck behind all of her other grand ideas. The music isn’t the problem. It started as a soft hum in her mind, and she played around with the melody until she was able to produce the skeleton of a song. The lyrics, however, are the issue. The second verse more specifically. Then again, she isn’t particularly fond of the first verse either. The chorus is okay for now simply because it’s slightly better than the rest, but the wording is tricky. No song is a waste of time, though. All of it is practice and deserves her full effort. That’s what she tells herself. She could be throwing away what's potentially her best song, and she wouldn’t even know it if she just gave — is that Remi? Casey doesn’t mean to stare, but he’s as pretty as she remembers so she does. She hasn’t seen him since the storm, when the firing of a gun interrupted their time together in the library. Hadn’t she said something about seeing them again at a coffee shop? This is kind of cute, a smile forming on her — oh, he’s looking back at her. It’s not like she can just look away. That’s rude. “Hi,” Casey speaks first, lifting her hand from under the table and offering a wave. “It’s good to see you survived the storm,” She says and immediately regrets it. Was that the right wording to use since not everyone could exactly say the same? “I’m uh— I’m Jean-less today, so. Just me. You’re more than welcome to join me if you want! I’ll just move my things. Or if you’re like not staying or anything, then that’s cool too.”
