You guys want to talk about making history? Everything that happened on the 25th, Wendy Davis, Senator Van de Putte, the rallies and arrests- all of that will be for absolutely nothing if we don't keep talking. The voting comes back on July 1st. We have less than a week. You wanna make history, you can't forget about this the day after or two days after. Stay loud. Stay heard. KEEP THIS BILL FROM BEING PASSED. You want to make history? THEN STAND UP AND MAKE IT
I used to think of feminism as obnoxious and self centered. I used to be one of those girls who believed in fighting for the human race, and feminists as a self-segregated portion of humanity.
And that was even last year. But my views have changed since then. I still focus on equality and bettering humans in unison together, but women go through certain struggles in the world that keep them from being equal. We're a lot farther in equality than most other countries, which is great and all, but that doesn't mean anyone (male or female) should stop fighting for pure uncorrupted human equality. I mean even now I still get annoyed with them sometimes because some believe that women should be looked at as "more intelligent" or "better cooks" or whatever; so to those people I view them as sexist and adding more to the struggle women have to go through. Everyone has their own strengths and flaws, no one body or soul embodies their entire gender including nearly half of humanity.
Women are usually the subject of rape, we are usually the ones being told how to react in rape situations, never men. Our culture influences rape in this way by trying to destroy it, because rape is on thin ice as is. And not only that but men are never really told against rape, against taking advantage of women as much as women are told ways we need to analyze our daily lives to "keep us safe." In all reality though, no matter where we are; in an abandoned building, at a party, or even at a co-ed school, women are going to be undermined or taken advantage of simply because they are women. Why are we not allowed to live our lives by our choice? Because of the constant male supremacists and dominance within our every day lives.
Women's bodies are in position to be controlled by powerful men. I myself am only pro-choice because more abortions would happen if abortion was illegal, so it helps the greater cause keeping it legal; but I feel like men have less than a 0 percent right to impose their thoughts on what women should or should not do, ultimately placing women under their control.
But women are also undermined in religion and in professional settings. Male supremacy is everywhere, yet what is America doing to decrease it? So I feel like we need feminism until we get to that equilibrium, because no one knows what it will take to get past it like our country is still fighting to do with prejudices within race and sexuality, even social status. We need to interpret soul rather than separate with sight.
