Bates Motel - “A Boy and His Dog” (1.08)
I’m sorry you lost your friend here.
It just seems sad to let her go. You know, dishonorable, sort of, just to put her in the ground.
I finally watched the season 5 finale aka last ever episode of Bates Motel - “The Cord” (so called because he cut the cord from his mother) last night and it was so awesome and amazing! <3
That also means I have no more episodes to write about this now, and I so loved blogging/writing about every episode <3 ;______________________;
Romero let Regina go because he felt bad, and to try not to be as a Norman.
It made me laugh when Norma said “would it surprise you if I told you I wasn’t Norman?” and Romero just punched him or whatever like “dafuq idiot” lol. Like “I don’t even care tbh” lol.
Then he dug up partially the body of Norma’s body, and let Norman stand behind him without keeping an eye on him. That was pretty obviously gonna end badly and result in his getting murdered! lol. That was not very smart for a cop.
Then the Norma personality off and fucked off in the woods, she said there was no longer anything she needed to protect him from since he now knew thanks to Romero he had killed his own mother. So, the Norma personality no longer had any kind of purpose to serve. So poof, off she went so Norman should’ve been back to normal, you’d think so but not really.
He decided to reset basically to before they went to White Pine Bay and relive his memories from just before they moved, and their journey there in the car on his way back to the motel. Talking to Norma again and imagining as if she were there. A hard reset lol. I weirdly remembered those scenes from the first episode when shown them again! I thought with all the TV I watched that I would not remember but I did, like the conversation somewhat and the imagery.
When he checked someone in and said they were the first guests even though it still said Bates Motel (not the Wayfairer or whatever it was called before) outside and he took down police tape and the rooms were all done out lol. He’s funny and silly but yeah, he reset like I said.
I knew when Dylan went and bought that gun from Remo how it was going to end. I said “it’s gonna end like Of Mice and Men, he’s gonna shoot his own brother for his own good” - my dad said that wouldn’t happen because of the end of the movie, where he went to the asylum and I pointed out but that already happened in this and it doesn’t have to end the same way.
It did not, Norman phoned Dylan and asked him to come over for dinner with him and mother after they had just moved lol. Dylan was like “this kid so crazy” lol. So he went with his gun and saw the very gross Norma and puked up, Norman said he was just ill. Dylan said something and I came up with a great thing I said at the time and now it bugs me I can’t remember what it was! It was really funny too! Oh no, wait that was it he said Norma was dead or something and I was like “yes, she’s very dead, quite dead really” or something lol.
Dylan tried to make Norman snap out of his stasis by telling him she was dead and everything and I think it worked really as he started to tear up. Then he went at Dylan with a big knife, but Dylan took his gun out and shot him, the knife ended up in the door and somehow my dad didn’t realised he had shot him and thought it was just the sound of the knife when me and my mom said we couldn’t believe he shot him and we said there was a gun shot, I was like why do you think he’s hugging him on the floor. Yes, he shot him.
So, Dylan did essentially an Of Mice and Men just like I said he would, so they kinda just stole that ending lol. But it did work for this too, it makes sense. Dylan loved his brother and knew what he was doing and knew he couldn’t let him keep on living and doing it.
It was quite heartbreaking all the same, especially cradling him in his arms while he died. It was a sad ending to the whole affair. It like in Of Mice and Men sort of needed to be done though.
Although I didn’t really expect them to change the end like that though (not until earlier in the episode), I thought he’d still live, and maybe go back to the mental hospital or escape.
But it does make sense as far as endings for the series go, it was still super sad though ;___________________________;
As Dylan had said, he was a nice person, he just had schizophrenia. When he was normal he was sweet and charming, I mean think of all the girls he managed to charm throughout the series alone.
And they zoomed out and showed the whole family, Dylan holding Norman dying in his arms and Norma’s dead body in the chair still. Like a creepy family portrait lol.
Norman was reunited with Norma in the forest upon his death, a sweet reunion indeed <3 They looked so happy,
They could’ve actually got something written on Norma’s gravestone though! instead of just when he lived and died until. That’s kinda cold, or they’re just cheapskates, I mean the amount of money it must have cost to write all that on Norma’s, I think it costs quite a bit to have a lot engraved on. It was like “we loved Norma but Norman, not so much” - but Dylan said repeatedly he did love his brother so he should’ve gotten something written on it.
Then they showed Emma and Dylan and their kid together happily ever after.
And a real estate agent showing some new people the motel to buy as it’s now up for sale of course. Obviously with all those bad memories if Dylan had inherited it he chose not to keep it.
Well, it’s an end of an era, that’s for sure! Another great show ended forever!
I wish it had gotten more series of course as it’s one of my favourite series ever! It was sheer brilliance, hence why I ended up writing about every episode because every episode had me on the edge of my seat with how amazing it was.
I really will miss it so much! It was epic! <3
There will never be another show like it! and that saddens me ;______________________;
It was great from start to finish, the plot and all the actors were top notch.
Freddie Highmore was astounding in it as was the rest! <3 But he played both sides of Norman so well! <3
Freddie Highmore and Nestor Carbonell <3

Dylan says (3/?)
Bates Motel - “Underwater” (1.09)
Look, Norma, I looked into it, and there's no market for your property, not with the new bypass road going in. I can't get you your money back.
Well, how much can you sell it for? I mean, it has a value. What's its value?
Maybe half what you paid for it. You're underwater. The best thing you can do is to just walk away. Let the bank take it back.
