THIS SHOW HAS EVERYTHING: Green silk, skeletons, cavernous wells, mistaken identities, disregard for human life, chess with the Emperor, jade palace tokens, young love, arranged marriages, clues, coroners, and pipa memories.
HOT TAKE: Holy cow this show was an unprecedented mere 7 episodes long!
This was a quick little mystery bundled up nicely in a compelling plot, impressive pacing, and a surprising amount of character development for such a short span of time.
It's not the best show in the world, but I think it's a great watch to keep busy during a train or plane ride or need something to watch here and there while you grab a quick lunch. It's got just enough romance, just enough palace intrigue, just enough covert spy ops, and even some costumed sword dancing!
