"Reclaiming Ourselves"
My mom and I go to the Gulf Islands every summer, and over the past few years I've noticed that some of the names of the islands are changing. They are slowly returning the islands to their proper First Nation's names, which I think is a great start! As Christi Belcourt discusses in her blog post below, it is important to refer to groups and areas as they refer to themselves, not how an "other" figure has named them in the past.
