Ernest Tsosie Jr. and John L. Tsosie founded Walking the Healing Path to address domestic violence and child abuse on the Navajo Nation.
It is easy to fall into the same patterns that you were brought up into, whether good or bad. As part of my own personal growth, I've thought a lot about how I was raised, and how how many of the ideals and ways of life that I was brought up into have influenced the way that I live today in a very positive way. I have also thought a lot about the aspects that I would want to change and what I don't want to carry on to my own children, when the time comes.
As the Tsosie men talk about, they both realized that they were falling into patterns that they did not want to foster, and they took a step back and changed their direction, which takes an incredible amount of strength. This is a great platform to start the discussion about breaking down past patterns and starting to take positive action.
