Schmaltz —
By mixing boiling pork lard and finely ground charcoal, I have made this black goo. It's purpose is to turn my skin black by being rubbed all over me. Right now, it's too cold to strip naked outside, but if the sun shines again, I shall apply it and report on the results.
Anyway, speaking of the last post, I finally got my hands on some schmaltz last week, which I have NEVER cooked with before (I've never cooked with rendered animal fat!) and I am beyond excited to use it.
First dish will be classic chopped chicken livers, then the sky's the limit.
Wednesday is a good day for rendering pork fat.
