22. Basorexia--the overwhelming desire to kiss for RenDert, if I may? 👀
Dert belongs to my super talented friend @i-am-dert and Rendlen is my hunter for WTNC! I cannot put into words how much I love these two!!!
The festival was in full swing, the lights, the merriment inthe atmosphere dazzling everything about the little town of Lunaris. Snow hadblanketed the cobblestone on every street, lights hung around made everythingglitter like magic as people laughed and went about the various activities aroundthe marketplace.
Rendlen shivered as he wrapped his fur coat around himselftighter, the soft silver tufts snarling about his grip offering some relief tothe freezing fingers of his right hand as the smaller hunter in his lap snuggledcloser into the warmth of the coat. They turned to look at him, the enchantmenton their face making them even more gorgeous than usual.
He let out a soft sigh, drinking up the warm wine held inhis prosthetic hand as they waited for the fireworks to begin. The flavorsdistracted him from the cold, and from the way he couldn’t take his eyes away Dert’smouth.
When they laughed, his heart fluttered in his chest. When they looked at him with a smile, he losthis ability to speak for seconds at a time.
Their chestnut hair was covered by a slightly too large hat,his hat, as they giggled in victory. Rend had chased them all night, laughingwhen he caught them in the marketplace where a dance had started, sweeping themoff their feet until they were breathless from laughter and ready to sit downand wait for the infamous fireworks.
It had been a long time since he had felt this drawn to aperson, wanting to hold them closer, be more than just friends. Granted, Rend had known Dert since hunter training, but over the years they had truly become so much more than the shy kid that grewup in the mountains.
The first loud crack of sound overhead drew his attentionaway momentarily, until the small sound of Dert gasping drew him right back in,like a moth choosing the brightest flame to go toward. Their eyes were wide, examining the sky with awe, adoration of the brilliant colors dancing acrossthe sky.
They turned their attention to Rend, about to ask if he hadjust seen one of the fireworks that had been enchanted by a talented witch. Butterfliesbegan dancing through the crowd before turning into colorful plumes of smoke asthey landed, but their words stopped when they saw him staring at them, not the fireworks.
“Rend?”
They were beaming up at him and all thought left him as heleaned forward, closing the distance between their lips. Dert made a startlednoise, but kissed him back, wrapping their arms around his neck. Suddenly Rendwas grateful he had worn his traveling hat, since it gave them some sense ofprivacy from any wandering eyes, not that he was focused on public displays ofaffection right now.
When they parted, they stared at one another, lashes dippedlow, their faces illuminated by the fireworks and the low light.
“That, that wasincredibly forward of me. I apologize, but I’ve wanted to do that allnight,” his voice was low, a faint whisper only loud enough to be heard by thestunning hunter in his embrace.
“Don’t apologize,” Dert smiled, grabbing Rend’s hat so theycould shield their faces from the crowd as they captured his lips in anotherkiss, the finale all but forgotten as they melted against one another’s touch.
