the artino sisters who both operate on the belief that no one is coming to save them and who both dont always fight fair but like they have something to prove

nova who pictures a sister worn soft through years of wishing and nostalgia, a baby who is sweet and kind and nothing like her but instead better (softer) , never knowing her little sister is witty and mean and pessimistic and exactly like her

nova finding out and being terrified of maggie suffering her same fate, maggie who raised herself yet despite it all still turned out so very similar in both the best and worst ways to her older sister

maggie who believes that she is harsh, too harsh to be loved properly, to be the image of evie that nova has idolised in her head unaware that her sister is just as messy and terrified of this development and most importantly so so so very similar to her

both the artino sisters with a different upbringing yet when i read the epilogue i have to remind myself its not nova's pov. the artino sisters who antagonise and annoy each other with idealogies that flipped by the end of the series and should not be haunting me still on random weekdays

My second favorite part in Renegades is when it takes Nova nearly until the end of her date with Adrian to realize that it was, in fact, a date.

"nova can fall asleep with maggie in her arms like how she did with adrian" FALSE, nova gets so fucking paranoid that something is going to happen to maggie the moment she's not on her guard. she sits outside her bedroom door all damn night and eventually has to go into her room to watch her sleep. her hyper vigilance is turned up to 100 and her therapist is very concerned.
