From a reblog of my aegoromantism comic:
Aegoromantic is a microlabel under aromantic, so yes being aego makes you aspec!
Microlabels are most often used to describe more specific feelings, and to create a sense of community for individuals who also experience those feelings. (from the lgbtqa+ wiki linked)
As you can see in the first page of my comic, because of how aromantic label is usually described to those who question themselves ("don't have romantic feelings", "don't understand romance" etc.) I wasn't sure if I fit the aromantic definition.
For some people they can just confidently decide "this label is me, I indentify as it even though the definition isn't 100% me but whatever!" For some it's like "augh there's nothing that describes the exact feeling I have! I'm curious about this label but the definition of it just isn't me. I could use it, I guess, but I don't like floating between labels that don't quite fit. I don't feel confident using this label when I talk to others about my identity". Both are valid!
I can just call myself aromantic, and I do! The term aegoromantic is there for me, to let me know that "yes, the way you feel is part of the aromantic identity! Welcome!"
