Juuuuust a quick rough lil sketch I whipped up for my good pal, @twistedtummies2 of his TW Oogie Boogie OC; Reno Rovar.

Reno’s a wee bit on the rounder side than most of his TW lads, sooooo I decided, why not give him a lil extra ‘fullness’ to go along with the chubbiness?  :P

Can you tell us more about Reno's siblings? Their age, personality? Are they beetle beastmen to like their older brother or different types of bugs?

Yes, they are bug-people the same way Reno is, though I think they are differently colored. Shada looks the most like her big brother, sharing a similar green hue, but with some purple highlights. Barry is mostly black and white, while Lon is colored in shades of red. Again, you can guess who the three are based off of, with Reno being inspired by Oogie Boogie. (I GOT THERE FIRST, YANA...probably...depends on how long ago you came up with Swing, behind-the-scenes, I guess...BUT MINE BECAME PUBLIC FIRST, REGARDLESS!!!) And, as you can also guess, I do imagine the three are very mischievous little buggies: not malicious, but very given to practical jokes and often incorrigibly curious. They also all REALLY love sweets, as most kids tend to. I also think Reno has had to babysit them a few times when he's back home; you might think they're little terrors, but actually, Reno is one of the few people who can keep the three in order. Once in a while they'll play a harmless trick on him, but most of the time they know better than to mess with their big brother; if he says to stop roughhousing, with each other, they'll stop. If he tells them to not bother him, they'll obey. In contrast, he usually doesn't do much to stop them from messing with OTHER people most of the time; if anything, he finds it hilarious to watch. I don't know their exact ages, though they are all less than twelve years of age, at the very least. Lon and Shada are twins; Lon is cocky and thinks of himslf as being the leader of the three, but isn't as smart as he thinks he is. Shada is the REAL boss, and more intelligent than both of her brothers. Barry is a couple years younger and seems a bit less bright and more gullible, but he also probably has the most simple common sense of the whole trio; he's usually the one trying to keep his older siblings from getting them into too much trouble...but the twins have a habitual skill of talking him into (or out of) things without a whole lot of effort.

What kind of swimsuits do your Twisted Wonderland's OCs wear? And their design?

I feel like someone MIGHT have asked something like this in the past, but if they did it was a while ago, and I can't remember the answers nor find the old post, if it was even a thing. Sooooo... First, we can scratch Theodore out completely. He won't be caught dead in the water...literally. The guy has a water allergy; it's not as severe as his inspiration, the Wicked Witch of the West, where he'll literally melt into a puddle if you splash half a bucket of mopwater on him, but he WILL get some pretty nasty burns. Again, he uses magic and various special items to keep himself clean. So if he's anywhere even NEAR a pool or a beach, he's sticking to the shoreline and as far as possible from the water's edge. So he probably won't even WEAR a swimsuit, just shorts and some sort of top suitable for sunny weather as he basks and sips soda or sweet lemonade or something. Also out of the running is Maelstrom, for the opposite reason: he's a mer-person. If he's going swimming, he's just gonna go AS HIMSELF. He'll just change to his true form after diving in, no need to change or worry about that sort of stuff (never seems to be an issue for the other Octavinelle characters). I've always liked to imagine Billy as the "trunks and nothing else" type. He goes topless when allowed, might not even wear sandals unless the sand is REALLY hot. I like to imagine his trunks are blue and have imagery of pink bunnies on them. XD I think Grit also goes topless in trunks when he goes swimming in his more human-like form; probably a simple gray in hue, maybe with some sort of pattern that almost makes them look like stone, or perhaps with a metallic sheen. Gotta show off those rock-hard abs, right? :P Reno and Smitty would also wear trunks, but would have the reservation to also wear a t-shirt most of the time, rather than going about topless. In the case of Reno, I feel like his would probably be colored some shades of green, to match the Oogie aesthetic, so to speak. And for Smitty...not sure about the shorts, but his shirt would probably one similar to the one he usually wears anyway, colored with blue and white stripes; in some ways, he'd actually look a lot more like Smee than he already does. XD

Elias and James I think are more the full-body swimsuit types. Elias has a love-hate relationship with water, since it's actually his biggest weakness when he goes into Blot Form, but in his normal form...well, most dogs enjoy swimming. ;) I think he'd probably wear something very sleek and slim, completely enshrouding him aside from his hands, feet, and head, clinging to his curves tightly and colored either dark blue, dark purple, or perhaps black with accents/trimming of one or the other hue. James, meanwhile, probably wears something similar, but sleeveless and MAYBE with shorter leg coverage, and colored mostly red. And then...there's Nakoda. I keep going back and forth on him. XD Part of me wants to say something similar to Elias, though in his case it's because of the "clinging to his curves tightly" part...aaaand the other part wants to just straight up say "Speedo," not so much because of how revealing it is (well...it is, but not for THOSE reasons), but mostly because I feel that would leave everyone else either flustered or EXTREMELY embarrassed at his absolute and complete lack of shame. LOL Both feel like they would fit him and his personality in different ways, and I'm not sure which I prefer for various reasons. Maybe he goes back and forth...or tries the latter, gets kicked out of the beach/pool area, and has to change into the former. I dunno. :P

I'm not sure why people have been randomly surprising me with art lately, because it's not normal for me to get so many pieces of art featuring my characters in a relatively short amount of time. O_O I'm not complaining though. XD ANYWAY...the "Shy Art Anon" came up with this: it's a banner depicting all of my major Twisted Wonderland OCs so far. I won't go into the circumstances of why they made this, but suffice it to say I did not see this page of sketches coming at all, and had no idea they were working on it till they showed it to me. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out, having siad that; they did a great job with all my bois! ^^

Reno, Swing, and the Christmas Event (Twisted Wonderland)

I have just FINALLY caught up with the whole Event. Or at least a large portion of it; all the bits with Swing and Skully, specifically. I didn't want to watch the ENTIRE Event, from top to bottom, because a.) my primary concern was just getting to know the new guy, and b.) I want to keep SOME surprises for myself when the Event reaches the official English server. On that note, I hope Swing's name won't get changed like with "Ernesto and Gino." Seriously, Swing is a GENIUS bit of naming. I wish I'D thought of it...on that note, I'll get to Reno - my own Oogie OC, who I thought of long before Swing became a thing - in a little while. This is probably gonna be a long post, so I'll put a Keep Reading below the picture (which has been lovingly made by @hooter-n-company).

My overall opinion? It's too early for me to judge the Event AS A WHOLE, given how I looked at things. But as far as Swing himself goes, I think he's an interesting twist on Oogie in a few ways, and I also like him on his own terms. In terms of kink crushes from the game, not sure where he ranks (I can safely say he's NOT in my top three, it's...a little hard to beat Malleus, Ruggie, and ESPECIALLY Leona), but he's definitely got some potential. Between his "bottomless greed," his diabolical persona, his deep voice, and him talking about people as "prey" and quoting Oogie's "ohhhh, I'm feelin' weak...with HUNGER!" bit...yeah. Lots of potential there. >///>

As far as the character HIMSELF goes, though, I think what I like most is how he plays to a trope I've always found fascinating: I don't know if this trope has a name, but it's something I've noticed happen in a few shows, games, and so on. It's a situation where literally all of the other major antagonists have some kind of sympathetic side to them…and then you'll have that ONE villain who is just kind of evil for the sake of being evil. (For one example: Cruella De Vil in Once Upon a Time. Every other major antagonist - the Evil Queen, Rumpelstiltskin, the Wicked Witch, etc. - has some kind of sad backstory...but Cruella was literally just evil from birth.) Swing is that kind of character: literally every other major antagonist we've faced in both the Main Story and past Events has had some kind of good side to them, but this guy is just kind of a bastard, plain and simple. And I kind of love that being the character based around Oogie, because that's exactly how Oogie was in the original movie: every other great Disney Villain, practically, has something else going on…but Oogie was just, "Nope. I do terrible stuff just 'cause I wanna." In fact, that's the first and biggest point of comparison/contrast with him and my boi, Reno. Speaking of which...let's get to that. When I created Reno, I wanted to create a character who fit in with the rest of the major cast. Meaning a character who would start off an antagonist, but eventually undergo some kind of revelation and...not necessarily reform or redeem himself - he's still got plenty of flaws and vices - but would certainly have a sort of change of heart all his own. He would have soft sides and a sad backstory, like so many of the others, and would eventually develop in a way as a character. The challenge was doing this with Oogie, who - at least in the original film - was basically just a case of "evil for the lols." I kind of chuckle at the fact that the CANON Oogie character we now have went the OPPOSITE way: instead of making him a character who fits in, the game makers intentionally made him STAND OUT. His appearance, his motivations, his personality, kind of everything about him is designed to be a character who ISN'T like all the others in the game. And it's funny to me that what I struggled with, they effectively embraced. Now, does that mean I think Swing is better than Reno, or the other way around? Honestly, neither. First of all, Reno is my baby, and I am VERY proud of him: I'm honestly proud of MYSELF too. I'm glad that, with the help of some folks I knew, I was able to create a character based on a longtime favorite villain and ex-fictional-crush that fit into this world. And I'm actually even MORE glad now that, with a canon character in existence, the two DON'T feel THAT similar. There are definitely some points of comparison, but both visually and at their core, the two are extremely different, with equally vastly different backstories and setups. If anything, it's just an interesting examination in how you can take one simple problem, and different creators will come up with different methods to achieve it: kinda like how different fanfics and pieces of fanart will cover similar ground but all have their own unique flavor, or how different adaptations of classic books will go in their own directions to find new ways to tell the same story.

"Different denotes neither bad nor good; it simply means 'not the same.'" END OF THE DAY...I still love my boi, Reno. Obviously. I can't NOT love him, I MADE him. And I do want to use him again, and find new story concepts for him. So if any of you were worrying about THAT, don't: Reno is still the best bug boi in my books. No one is replacing him in MY heart. <3 But I can't begrudge the existence of Swing, either; if anything, I'm genuinely glad we GOT an Oogie character, and that he is so different and fun (and potentially blush-inducing). At some point, I'm gonna need to figure out a story idea to have Reno meet him...and Skully, too, for that matter. Not sure when or how I'll achieve that, so we'll see what happens there. As for Swing on his own...there's room for more than one Boogieman on this page. He'll probably get some attention on his own and of his own at some point. It's just a matter of time. ;)

...Well. Now I just have mixed feelings. On the one hand...I'm EXTREMELY excited and glad that my own private predictions for what the mysterious new Event could be came true. On the other hand...(whimpers and hugs Reno protectively)...now my baby is in danger. 🥺
