Rufus/Reno Headcanons

Their relationship started during Rufus’s house arrest during one of Reno’s shifts. One thing led to another and they wound up in bed together.

The one time thing became a regular thing during each one of Reno’s shifts.

They agreed that there would be no strings attached and that when the house arrest ended, the arrangement ended.

Neither of them liked the idea of it ever ending, but didn’t admit it.

When President Shinra died and Rufus inherited the empire, he claims he has no time to date or pursue other partners. With Reno knowing what he likes, he suggests they continue. Reno agrees, saying that he works too much to go out.

Rufus clearly shows Reno favoritism. He’s the only employee whose birthday he remembers. He lets him break dress code. Reno can sleep on the job. No one says anything about it.

Rude didn’t believe Reno the first time he bragged about doing the boss. He went as far as laughing in his face. He didn’t believe him until he found a pair of underwear too fancy for Reno in the dryer.

Reno introduces Rufus to several things he was curious about but was never able to do, like jumping on the bed, shooting dice, cheap pizza, reality TV, and gambling at Wall Market.

Dark Nation doesn’t mind that her daddy gives Reno attention. Darkstar gets jealous.

Their shared time together has some affect on their taste in music. Rufus grows to appreciate the thrash metal and punk music that Reno loves. Not surprisingly, some downtempo and EDM makes its way into Reno’s library.

Reno can be very jealous over Rufus. A tabloid can set him off. Rufus, however, is confident in every way possible. He deflects and declines with ease and trusts that Reno does the same.

Having no heirs, Rufus names Reno his sole beneficiary.

After Rufus returns from Kilminster’s cave, Reno fusses over every little thing. He practically panics whenever Rufus so much as sneezes. He volunteers to change his bandages and doesn’t want anyone else to care for him.
