Without a walking partner, a Handmaid was to be accompanied by a Guardian. No one with red tags could go anywhere alone. Hell, no one with a womb could go anywhere alone. Even Wives, barren as they may be, tended to be accompanied by Guardians or another Wife. Who knows what atrocities may occur if women were trusted to be alone in this world? ❛ Blessed day. ❜

          “i  just...  didn’t  realize... there  would  be  so  many  people  --”  he’s  taking  slow,  measured  breaths.  an  attempt  to  ground  himself  (  one  that’s  really  not  working.  )  //  @rentalfuck  call.

          it’s  not  uncommon;  in  fact,  this  isn’t  even  the  first  time  this  week  and  it’s  only  monday,  that  willow  finds  someone  passed  out  at  their  table  before  she’s  even  gotten  a  chance  to  take  their  orders.  they  all  usually  smell  similar  to  him,  too,  though  his  is  a  bit  more...  exotic.  vomit  and  sex  and...  sugar??  that’s  a  lovely  combination.  she  lets  him  rest  a  little  while  (  taking  pity,  )  but  she  knows  she  can’t  let  him  stay  there  forever.           when  she  feels  like  enough  time  has  oassed,  she  makes  her  way  over.  squats  next  to  him,  propping  an  arm  on  the  table  and  her  chin  atop  it.  her  free  hand  moves  so  she  can  poke  his  cheek  gently.  “hey.  kid,”  though  he’s  PROBABLY  older  than  her,  “you  gonna  get  up  and  eat,  or  are  you  just  looking  for  a  place  to  rest  your  head?”  //  @rentalfuck  call.

KNOCK , KNOCK !!!     another night - another exploration. for you, there felt like there was nothing that could calm the restless urge to find answers. to find something hidden in secret places - abandoned places.    to find something that pointed you in the direction of something akin to peace.   something that screamed EASY WAY OUT --- even if no such thing existed.  what easy way was there out of this suffering?   of this endless search for answers that perhaps would snap your mother out of the fantasy she lived in.   

only tonight, you wished that he’d joined you.  that boy that made your heart swell.  it’s mud stained shoes that kick doorframe, dirt marked hands that tuck strands of blonde hair behind your ears as you wait for an answer.  wait to see him.
