We love this piece of activist art on the side of the road in Echo Park. A mattress leaning outside an apartment because of eviction is so commonplace that it’s normalized. It shouldn’t be. My 30% rent increase means I can't afford to repair my car or go to the dentist. The longer I wait, the worse both problems become, but keeping a roof over my family's head is more important. I hope my landlords are doing something good with the extra $5500 a year they're getting from me.
