Baby August’s reakumatizations
So, I have no clue why it kept me so long to think of this (maybe because it’s been a minute since I rewatched “Gigantitan“?), but... WHY DID HAWK MOTH REAKUMATIZE BABY AUGUST MULTIPLE TIMES!?!?! The first time was a mistake. He was aiming for the Gorilla, and at the last minute the bodyguard suppressed his negative emotions and the akuma unexpectedly flew over to a crying baby August. I mean, does this look like the face of a man intending to akumatize a one-year-old?
And the whole experience of trying to control August was a bit of a disaster (and a nice window into how Gabey must have been with Adrien when he was a toddler). The whole experience was probably a giant (excuse the pun) headache for this man.
But then, we see Gigantitan at the beginning of “Weredad”...
Reakumatizing August while Scarlet Moth during the Hero’s Day event made sense: all hands on deck; make as much havoc and destruction as possible. August had free rein. But to akumatize the baby for a one-on-two battle against Ladybug and Chat Noir again during the opening of “Weredad”!? Why? It went terribly for Hawk Moth the first time, so why try again on purpose? Was he THAT hard up on negative emotions that day!? He’s in Paris, I doubt so few people were having a bad day that he’d zero in on a toddler.
Did he do so by accident AGAIN!? Was he maybe aiming for August’s mom? Or someone else and baby August was yet again an innocent but upset bystander?
And, for that matter, August has been given control of a lollipop-inspired sentimonster at least twice! WHY!?!?!?! Why are we constantly zeroing in on this kid!?
I’d love to believe that each time was somehow accidental (maybe the amok drifts to the strongest emotion, just like an akuma, and can go off-target the same way if the person feeling the strongest negative emotion changes suddenly).
Can you imagine the irritation Gabriel experiences by CONSTANTLY having his akuma, or Mayura’s amok, unintentionally connecting with a one-year-old? Can we PLEASE get shots like the above, of Gabey getting more and more exasperated each time August gets hit?
