Today is my birthday! I am officially 28 years old. Unfortunately Courtney had to work today so I decided to wake up at 3:30am and drive to Brainard Lake to shoot the sunrise. Landscape photography has been a love of mine for a long time but I just don't get out to shoot like I should. I think that is going to change though. It was so beautiful and peaceful out there.
This was also my first real outing with the Sony/Zeiss 16-35mm f4 and holy crap that lens is awesome. It's one of the sharpest lenses I have ever used and it is just as sharp at any aperture.
This image was one of the first ones I captured. The "blue hour" light is probably my favorite light to shoot in. I am so happy with this image. I think it is one of my best landscape images ever. A perfect birthday present.
