Lizard Mom Update

If you put the cricket keeper in their line of site, Pixel gets the “I must murder the live game” look. It’s weirdly adorable.

On another note, I’m worried because we didn’t get them an undertank heater. They seem fine without one. you know...had a nice, easy shed with just one little flap they couldn’t get off their nose....pretty active in the evenings/night when I’m the only one awake and everything is quiet....they like their warm hide, under the lamp a lot. Spends most of the day there napping and chilling out...so I’m not like...panicking but I feel like it’s something we should look into?

They had to spend the weekend while we were at a convention with a friend who has a good....four or five geckos (and experience with a bearded dragon for a long while)  and some experience, and she didn’t say anything about him needing one so I guess he’s fine.  She would have brought something up or scolded us if he wasn’t. I know that for sure. We would have had a major lecture on our hands if he wasn’t being well taken care of. And I have another friend with even more experience who would have also chewed us to shreds and spit us out if his set-up wasn’t good and Nikky and I weren’t being good lizard parents... but..Eh. I’m an overprotective lizard mom. I literally check on this guy every ten minutes. I monitor their heat and humidity levels like it’s going out of style.

They’re happy. They’re healthy. The only problems we’ve had were with the repticarpet. Thier teeth kept getting stuck. We replaced it with paper towels and it’s been smooth sailing. 

On another note, Pixel had their first adventure in the playground we made for them. It’s small right now, just a paper towl tube, a decoration that wasn’t fitting with his tank, and a dish rag that provides plenty of grippy, textured fun, but he liked it. We had to clean out his tank and replace the substrate, and he actually crawled around on our hands, all over out shoulders and backs, and even into my hair and atop my head. Currently there’s a damp paper towel chilling out on top of his moist hide because his humiidity is lower than it should be and we’re trying to raise it up so it’s closer to 20% than 10% but all is well.
