because the notes and reply button on a post bring you to the same place, do you ever intend to get rid of the reply bubble? my post footer is so full I can't see how many notes a post has (note: I have the quick queue labs feature on. I don't want to turn this off, because I use it frequently)
Answer: Hey, @prettyfuckinhot!
So, we can say that we are not planning to change this and remove the reply button. But we are aware that the post footer is crowded, and we might make modifications in the post footer in the future.
It can also be said that we will be experimenting with post footer changes, and hope to update you with the results of these as we can. But the reply option will be staying where it is. We will, of course, keep you posted with all the latest updates here or at @changes
Thanks for your question, and have a lovely day.

On mourning Reply...
I miss the Reply function because, sometimes hilarity and banter would ensue, (some of my best gif-offs have started in replies!), but mostly because when someone posts a message from a nasty anon, or makes a text post about having a bad day, I don’t want to Like it, I don’t want to reblog it, and sometimes I don’t know the person well enough to feel right about messaging them, but I could reply, I could leave a simple <3 or **hug**, or a succinct “PISS OFF!” to the nonny who hurt them, or a short message to say “we’re here, you are loved, we’ve got your back”
Reply gave you access to your very own Tumblr posse who would show up to put a hand on your shoulder and stare down life’s bad things with you. Without it, I feel like I have lost an important meeting place of my community.
I want my Reply Bubble back
Please.
That is all.
#rarely used feature, MY ASS
Without reply button...
Again, I really, really hate how tumblr took away the reply bubble button.
When I see my mutual on tumblr post something, sometimes I want to respond to it so that only that friend (and inevitably, their followers or anyone who might stumble upon that post later) can see. I don’t want to publish their stuff on my blog just because I want to say something on it.
Like, some stuff they post are quite personal. For some of them, I feel close to them enough to want to give them my opinion. But however close I feel, it doesn’t feel right to use the reblog button to comment and at the same time expose that “personal” post to my followers.
The reply bubble was like a way for me to say something softly to them and only the people in the vicinity can overhear it. Reblogging is like I’m responding to them with a megaphone.
Without reply bubble button, if and when my friend complains that they have ripped their pants, I now can no longer comment in a whisper. Instead, I would be shouting “OMG You ripped your pants, I’m sorry to hear that. Pat pat to you. Oh and while I’m offering a condolence to you, let’s also make other 150 people who are strangers to you hear this as well!!” (When 150 represents my own followers who are not the friend’s followers.)
That, or I just pretend I didn’t hear them, and don’t respond at all. Because there is no way to discreetly attach a reply to the post now.
does the new messaging thing include mobile??
What’s this new Tumblr update?? we got messages now?? fuck that we wanted that in fuckin 2012 and we been gettin by with Facebook, texts, kik, and literally every other social networking platform that was smart enough to implement direct messaging quickly. Bring back comments you useless nerds @staff
