Long-term push into universal "one account one person": you want to keep your private business separate, but your boss / stalker / hostile law enforcement won't. So yes, a slip-up could destroy your life in one move.
Backdrop: Communities and companies online, yes, have always maintained protections, and are often pro-active ahead of laws. They were from the start.

(Musking up their digital safety-nets is new, that's not how it was. Are the laws about that? No.) But the reported abuses *are* sent in and it's governments which fail to follow up.
The upcoming lawmaking hardly says governments will fix that - not even PSAs for parents! - and address violations towards minors. Instead they'll foist costly ($$$) non-secure data collections ... on indie businesses. Clearing the field for only giant billionaires' networks ... to lose your data anyway. Or worse.
This is like getting the repair shop to "enforce" the speed limit on the road, for all vehicles. Consider how they'd do that? And if they get it wrong your car can be vanished, and you're banned from the place that fixes your car. It was never about speeding on the road. It was about taking your car. Worse, it's not even a car; it's a bicycle.
