#reptile fandom

Ok so...

This was sorta inspired by the horrific budgie cage I came across on Craigslist... and I was sorta thinking about the myths and misconceptions about other small pets. You know, how bettas are kept in vases and other small containers and rabbits are kept in hutches, etc. And I think we should do something about it.

I'm hoping you guys can tell me your thoughts and help me when the time comes. Here's my plan:

We start a hashtag this weekend that addresses these things and spreads info. We'll list out misconceptions, spread facts, link to good resources, share stories, etc.

We'll get the other pet communities like the bunny people, fish people, reptile/amphibian people, rodent people, etc involved too.

We could do this on Twitter and Tumblr this weekend. Not sure where else would be applicable. We just need a hashtag. Some I came up with were:

#NotADecoration #NotDisposable and #SmallPetRespect

I think I like the last one the most so far, as it's pretty clear. You guys have any suggestions?

I think the tumblr pet community really tickles me because we all belong to certain cliques, but we still think the other people are cool.

It's like that scene in Mean Girls in the cafeteria, but with the Bird Fandom, Fish Fandom, Reptile/Amphibian Fandom, etc.  

I see you, fish people and reptile people (and many other animal fandoms). You are awesome. The bird people extend a wing of friendship.
