how's the fish fandom handling the recent oarfish sightings???
I think the tumblr pet community really tickles me because we all belong to certain cliques, but we still think the other people are cool.
It's like that scene in Mean Girls in the cafeteria, but with the Bird Fandom, Fish Fandom, Reptile/Amphibian Fandom, etc.
I see you, fish people and reptile people (and many other animal fandoms). You are awesome. The bird people extend a wing of friendship.
I really really need to find my camera cord so I can show you guys how much my baby goldfish have grown!
Even just in this last week it's absurd how much they've developed. They have these adorable little fins and they're even starting to develop personalities. A few of them consistently come up to the glass and say hello to beg for food.
I'm just really fucking proud of them (and let's be honest, myself, too) and I can't wait until they get big enough so you guys can fully appreciate them. They're still so small the camera can't pick up the tiny details like their gold eyes or their pectoral fins or their baby mouths.
At this rate, there are about 10 of them I am sure will develop into full adults. They are the healthiest and the biggest out of the bunch, and they're also the ones that come up to the glass. The rest of them (maybe 20 or so... it's hard to tell since I decorated their tank so they hide more easily) are still much smaller and I'm not sure will make it, but who knows.
I mean for a first time spawn and a first time raising fry on my part, if I can just get one beautiful baby I would be thrilled.
And since I'm definitely staying home this summer, I'm going to push my mom into fully agreeing on letting me make a pond in the backyard so at least Sydney and her babies can enjoy being outside. Since the rest are fancies, they might have to stay indoors.
BUT AHH I LOVE THEM SO MUCH
Now if only I could get Ron and Bailey to spawn... I've put a spawning mop in but nothing yet.
The Shark Fandom is rising
Dear Fish Fandom:
Setting up a tall 20 gallon freshwater fish.
The only freshwater tanks I have had are betta fish divided tanks.
What fish should I get? What are some good hardy plants? Any tips/suggestions?
