Requiem for Hell, Mono (2016)
Requiem for Hell beckons such questions as the following which, conveniently, mostly answer themselves:
Why don’t the tracks go anywhere?
Why haven’t Mono changed anything about their sound since 2004?
Will Mono ever truly live up to the esteemed reputation of their live act?
Yet, despite those self-apparent flaws, the noisy, poppier title track is easily Mono’s most interesting stylistic development in about a decade (!) - or at least for the first ten minutes or so. While that perhaps sees Requiem for Hell host to one of the dullest stylistic evolutions of a band in recent memory, it’s admirable enough to proclaim this as one of their stronger records.
Pick: ‘Requiem for Hell’
current obsession.
(listen with headphones or a good sound system, the bass line is absolutely amazing)
