I need to write the word in parenthesis in the past tense with the correct helping verb...
J'/je ___________ les escaliers en courant. (descendre)
I wrote: Je suis descendu les escaliers en courant.
Correct answer: J'ai descendu les escaliers en courant.
Why do I use avoir and not être?
