I know I only post once in a blue moon, however I want to talk about how Finley handled the situation because I personally think it’s pretty irresponsible how they’ve treated this. I’m making a cut here as well because this is gonna be a long one.
So my main problem with Finley is how they talk about how toxic of a place the FNF community is while actively contributing to that environment.
I understand that leaks, harassment, child predation and theft are a HUGE problem in the FNF/EXE space, and there’s a lot of work to be done. But let’s not forget how you treated your staff, Finley. I was not on the Rerun team, but I heard more than once that it was NOT a particularly peachy place.
For example, back in like 2023 when the original sprite artist for Scrimbo got bullied so bad by not only you, but other members of your team that they almost took their own life.
And also the many, MANY times over the years that you’ve complained about how much you hate working on Rerun. I understand losing passion for something and not wanting to cancel it because of the work that was done, but clearly you weren’t enjoying yourself anymore. Maybe I’m wrong and you changed your mind, but it’s called a passion project for a reason! If you lose passion, stop working on it.
And I am aware that most of what happened in Rerun’s early days occurred when you were younger, around the age of 14-16 I believe. But that doesn’t excuse the behavior. You can grow and learn from that, but you can’t get mad at people for being toxic when you yourself were also terrible to others, including your friends.
Ultimately I think Rerun being cancelled was the inevitable conclusion to this situation. I’m not expecting Finley to bend over backwards trying to make things right, but at the very least, they need to take accountability instead of trying to pin all of Rerun’s misfortune on the community, because that benefits nobody.
