I don’t find myself rescuing as many plants as I once did when I started my plant journey. Rescuing a plant was a great way to learn without the fear of making mistakes. Some make it and some don’t and that’s ok, there are no such things as perfect plant parents. Over quarantine in the summer I spontaneously rescued this palm. It was at the store in the street fallen over being run over by cars not looking good at all. I brought it back to the apartment and proceeded to revive this beauty. First thing I did was chop off some of the exterior leaves. They were too far damaged and I wanted this plant to focus on creating new healthy palms. I unpotted and took a look at the health of the roots. It was a bit root bound but thankfully the overall root health was ok. I potted it up into a new pot with fresh soil. I used my normal well draining soil mix but added a lot@more coco choir to help retain some moisture. I then created my neem, water, and (peppermint) Castile soap and used that and cotton balls to clean all over the palms and stems. I’m still getting used to how thirty this plant is but I think it’s finally starting to come back to life. It’s currently pushing out it’s first new leaf. I’ve been using my @liquidirtfounder (Code apartmentbotanist_25 for 25% off) to help revive and add nutrition for the plant. Overall, I’m so happy I took the risk on this beauty! It’s such a good feeling seeing the results of my hard work and patience. I hope I can continue to keep it happy through the winter 🙏 :: :: #apartmentbotanist #rescueplant #majestypalm #palm #myrescueplant #palmtree #crystal #bedroomdecor #bigplantenergy #crystalcorner #plantsmakepeoplehappy #plantcorner #mybdrm #bedroomdecor #nyc #nycapartments #nycliving #apartmenttherapy #apartmentliving #apartmentplants #indoorplants (at New York, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/CHq-40fAUz-/?igshid=1seit9mc94uj4
I can see this attractive plant thriving all year around, but the real magic happens at Christmas when it's blooming. It's the middle of May and she's shows her magic again. So delicate and strong at the same time. I love it. #rescueplant #thriving #lovelife❤️ #sundaymood☀️ #mindsetcoaching https://www.instagram.com/p/CASEB4QjcMA/?igshid=psb1nry1t84h

This little fella has had a rough day. It seems that he was ripped out of a planter (presumably by Friday night drunks), thrown into the street, and hit by a snow plow this morning. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep him alive! #rescueplant #nyc #eastvillage #aptgarden https://www.instagram.com/p/BuhDF7Mgln7/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1t5wy2h2oaevc
I rescued this Cyclamen and it has been blooming for me for months #gardendc #rescueplant #flowers #holidaydecor #picoftheday #cyclamen #instaflowers #houseplantsofinstagram #houseplants #nofilter #morninglight #white #blooms (at Silver Spring, Maryland) https://www.instagram.com/p/BrQI422Fkcg/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=10kptv69zcytq
It’s a mighty gray morning this morning, but the fact that there are no harsh sun rays and I was up before the grow lights this morning, afforded me the opportunity to get at least a semi-decent shot of how damn lush this closet garden is at the moment. The Kalanchoe all the way to the bottom right was a #rescueplant. A storefront moved and it sat languishing in its window for a few weeks until I asked the contractor of the building whether I could take it home with me. I set it up closest to the window so that it can break up some of the harsher sun rays that would disturb my Calatheas. I had many of my Calatheas in the bathroom, but begrudgingly moved them back here, as my chicken took them for “free range” snacks. Chickens are actually bred from jungle birds from Asia, so I do wonder if she has a natural, biological preference to wrap her beak around tropical plants. It sure as heck seems like it! 😩🐔💚🌿 (at Williamsburg, Brooklyn)
This poor little guy was chucked on the sale table at our local hardware store. He was so dry his moss was actually repelling water. Once I got him rehydrated, though, he had remarkably healthy roots - I didn’t have to trim him at all. He’s now potted up in fresh medium, and sitting on a nice bright windowsill. What a good boy! #phalaenopsis #orchids #houseplant #rescueplant #plantrescue #iloveplants
