Thumblina is 11 years old today ‼️ Thumblina was born the same day our other Maltese, Princess died. Buddy, our Caviler King Charles Spaniel, wasn't handling the loss well. My Aunt called asking if we were interested in rescuing a Maltese puppy in need of a home. A pet store had dropped off a few puppies that had gotten a skin infection in transport at a vet office and didn't want them back. We agreed to go see her, but weren't sure we were ready for another dog. Once we saw her, we knew she was meant to be ours 💓💞💖 She needed us 💖 She was so tiny‼️She didn't know how to bark yet‼️She just squeaked like a squeaky toy‼️They told us she'd never been on grass before‼️My mom was sure Princess had sent her to us💖💞💓😍 This is a picture of when she was first brought home at 16 weeks, which is 4 months. She was barely 2 pounds‼️Our other Maltese, Princess, barely grew after 4 months. Mom and I were worried Thumblina wouldn't get bigger either. Thankfully, she did. She is 7 pounds now 💖 Buddy was so gentle with her ❤️ Buddy passed away a while ago, but Thumblina is ok with being an only dog. Jeffry: The Curious Gentleman with a Heart of Gold

There’s a special kind of magic in watching a reserved little soul slowly unfold into a confident, joyful companion. That’s the story of Jeffry—a Yorkshire Terrier whose gentle nature and curious spirit have completely captured our hearts.

We first saw Jeffry on the Yorkie Companion Rescue website. His photo showed a sweet-faced pup with thoughtful eyes and a fluffy coat that seemed to whisper, “I’ve got stories to tell.” His description mentioned he was “a bit shy at first, but wonderfully affectionate once he trusts you.” We knew right away we wanted to be the ones to earn that trust.

When Jeffry first came home, he was cautious. He spent the first few hours peeking out from behind the sofa, watching us with those soulful eyes. We didn’t rush him. We spoke softly, offered tiny treats, and let him explore on his own terms. And then—breakthrough. On the third evening, he tiptoed over, placed one paw on my knee, and let out the tiniest, most hopeful sigh. My heart melted on the spot.

Since that day, Jeffry has blossomed in the most beautiful ways.

Jeffry may have started shy, but his personality is now full of warmth and curiosity. He’s developed adorable routines that we’ve come to cherish:

The Morning Stretch & Sniff: He starts each day with a long, dramatic stretch followed by a careful inspection of the house—making sure everything is just as he left it.

The Afternoon Cuddle Session: Around 2 p.m., he hops onto the couch, nudges my arm, and waits for his daily belly rub.

Evening Playtime: He’s developed a particular fondness for a small blue ball, which he proudly carries around before dropping it at our feet for a gentle game of fetch.

He’s not a demanding dog—just a loyal, tender-hearted companion who reminds us that patience and kindness can build the strongest bonds. He may have been shy at first, but now he’s the first to greet us at the door and the last to curl up beside us at night.

Adopting Jeffry from Yorkie Companion Rescue was a beautiful lesson in trust, patience, and the quiet power of love. He didn’t just need a home—he needed a safe place to become the happy, confident little guy he is today.
