I was a bit curious about how people translate the quick studies to a larger piece. So, I added pictures of their work and
The first one is Simon Carter; the first picture is a quick study that he posted on his blog explaining how he does small and quick studies of areas of the countryside. The last painting is the final piece of a landscape done by this artist. It is easy to see the relationship between the quick studies and the final piece.
The second artist is Carol Hsiung, I am not so sure how long she takes to do this small sketch, but I love how they represent a small portion of reality. It is also easy to see the transition from the small sketches to big work.
Also different in media does help to create a different atmosphere in the drawings, one freer and more abstract, the other one, more structure but also more in control.
