Candidates who've completed an M.Phil programme with at least 55% marks are also eligible.
Full eligibility detail, including provisions for foreign qualifications, is laid out on the official doctoral admissions page, and the complete regulatory framework is available in the Ph.D Programme Regulations 2025 (and the 2024 regulations for earlier batches).
Selection Process
CMRU follows a structured, multi-stage selection process:
Application screening – Only complete applications with all required documents are considered.
Entrance Examination – Covers two papers: General Aptitude & Research Methodology, and a domain-specific subject, each with 60 MCQs and a 1-hour time limit.
Personal Interview – Shortlisted/exempted candidates are called for interviews by the Research Admissions Committee.
Final Selection – Based on combined performance across postgraduate marks, entrance exam, and interview.
Exemptions from the entrance test apply to candidates who've qualified UGC/CSIR NET (JRF), SET/SLET, GATE, or hold an M.Phil degree from a UGC-recognized university.
