The internet: This one looks promising! Google says it’s exactly what you’re looking for!

Me: Clicks

Website: “This article is behind a paywall.”

Me: …Fine. pays

Me: Finally opens the article

Article: “We interviewed Dave, who wasn’t there, but would like to share what he would’ve done IF he had been there. Hypothetically.”

Me: Thanks Dave. That’s so helpful. Really. No one asked.

Researching real events is either “Here’s a 12-part documentary, 3 books, and 100 archived interviews”

WHY is it so hard to find out whether there was a walking path in Prince George BC from the intersection of 10th Avenue and Patricia to the top of Connaught Hill in 1926? That should be readily available information!

Science is inherently adversarial. I am actively competing against an aspect of science to try and discover its secrets, and science is usually pretty resistant.

Whenever my research does not work out in my favour on any given day (enzyme doesn't work, solution component not affecting enzyme as expected, machines producing poor results) I count the day as having been won by science, and I'll come back in tomorrow to try again.

Science is outscoring me by a substantial margin.
