Monoyoshi had sought out the bamboo grove on advice from Kikkou. His brother had made it sound like a good place to relax, although the wakizashi had gotten it into his head that if his sword was anywhere in this city, the bamboo grove was far from the worst place to start looking.

The search through the forest had barely started, however, when he heard the familiar sounds of someone training.

“Hello…?” He approached through the walls of green carefully until he spotted a familiar black-and-red ensemble.

“Ookurikara-sama! It’s a relief to see you here.” His eyes fell to the wooden sword in Ookurikara’s hand. “… Did they take your blade as well…?”

“ You kno-ow. ” He’s got Ookurikara cornered-- in a very loose sense of the word, since he’s severely outclassed in strength and size-- with his dainty frame blocking the singular exit. Intimidating, right?  “ For a guy who hates getting social so much, you’re pretty easily lured out by food. Dinner was my job tonight-- do you like it? ” He leans forward, gesturing towards a strawberry layer cake. “ You're gonna try dessert too, riiiight? ”

In the few hours since he had arrived in the city, Kikkou had already seemingly drowned himself into the going festivities. True, he was also keen on finding his master, but there was always an allure when it came to opportunities to participate in such events, when a lifetime ago, if he was lucky, he could only watch.

That was why he was quick to procure not only a summer yukata while he wandered the streets, but also a pair of kebabs to relish along the way. In fact, he nearly choked on the first bite when his eyes met with an ominous figure up ahead--not out of surprise or shock, though. But delight. He had tried to call to him before he could finish swallowing.

Once recovered, he hurried closer. There was making no mistake, this was a fellow Danshi...one that looked far too stiff for his cheerful surroundings, at that.

“Do my eyes deceive me?” Kikkou could not hide the amusement in his voice while he circled around to Ookurikara’s front. “To what does this fine festival owe the pleasure of your looming shadow?”

He was joking, mostly, but it was most unusual to find the Date sword at such gatherings. Surely something interesting must have been the cause. Either way, he offered up his spare kebab.

“Hungry? I think you’ll find these are to die for.”
