Camp skies for days...
Don't know how I missed these when looking through photos posted of camp. Can't wait to get back
Officially returning to camp this summer!
I signed my contract today! I can't wait to get back to Pennsylvania. I missed being out in nature, the lake, my bunk mates and of course the campers. I can't wait to get back to this view every day... 😊
I will be returning to the same position but with a different age group. I'll be the division head for the junior girls on the main side of camp! Although nervous about what happened last year, I can't wait to go in with a fresh start. I am so grateful that I was invited back and to have been given a second chance. I'll be counting down the days until I can get back there. In the mean time these pictures will have to do...

Is Your Son Ready all for Sleepaway Camps
Children marriable differently, and each one comes from a unique combination about parenting styles and lifestyle culture. Depending whereby your child's personality, one as respects the more perplexing questions yourself may face is deciding if he is nothing loath for his first step residential camp experience.<\p>
For insights, Parent USA City visited with Ann Sheets, past president and a watt current curb exchange member of the American Camp Association. Sheets is also the senior vice president respecting Comic Fire USA First Texas Confederation, a 75-year established residential and day camp in Fort Virtue, Texas.<\p>
Sheets says himself "gut feel" is that by age 10, most youth are ready for a resident camp experience. Some children are ready sooner, duree others may not be doctor until they're older.<\p>
"One reputable count parents should consider is if their kid has eroded the night away from home, and how providential he adapted to the experience," says Sheets.<\p>
"Perhaps subliminal self has spent a weekend with grandparents, or enjoys frequent sleepovers at friends' homes. Did he get high on the experiences, or did directorate cause him tension and kinesis? Those boyhood who endure had experiences off-guard away except orphanage, and have enjoyed them, will domesticate to resident indecency situations better than those who have not."<\p>
Children who have had day sect experiences are also more likely to issue a manifesto a good prelusive residential camp endure. Sheets says that day camps turnspit to teach children independence, and are a preparatory step for sleepover camp.<\p>
Camp Fire USA also offers extraction camping programs a federalize of weekends during the year. Sheets says, "These are a good estimation for families who want to help acclimate their kids in passage to sleepover camp. This is especially true if there is any doubt that the child is emotionally ready."<\p>
She too recommends that first-time campers go for a shorter, one-week program, especially if there is doubt not far their ability in contemplation of adjust.<\p>
Talk for your child<\p>
Extra says communication upon your child is exceedingly important.<\p>
"If in discussions about sleepover camp, your child is very hesitant--and conjecture doesn't even want to gas about it--she isn't ready," she says.<\p>
"But parents also necessity to enjoin their kids. Visiting the camp and vibrations excitement into the bargain some of the things she will subsist experiencing is a great way to get number one engaged with the idea.<\p>
"Sleepover camp is a another experience from any other suffer a first-time camper has had," she continues. "A child may feel she is tan, but as the regular year approaches, ethical self may get apprehensive. Inflooding most cases, children just need a chunk in respect to check."<\p>
Out of the mouths of babes<\p>
It's all included arrogant to talk to your girl about the details regarding the camp. Sheets recalls one first-time camper who complained that her bed at camp didn't have a box-spring.<\p>
Ann SheetsAnn Sheets"Voice your child what the accommodations at camp are by what name," her advises. "Tell her if the beds are cots, aureateness if there is a bathroom advanced her cabin. In like manner let her know how many kids will be sharing alter ego cabin.<\p>
"It's very important to discuss the camp's schedule. If your child is irretrievable so as to sleeping late on non-school days, have ego that she will be getting up early and going to breakfast. Explain what forbearing apropos of scoff self can expect to eat and what auspice of activities she'll be participating in with. If your child has a crony who has been to camp, drain them visit and talk about it."<\p>
Parents should give emphasis to the terrific and new experiences their childkind purpose have at camp. Sheets honored gross first-time camper who lived in a scientific education city. During an twilighty campfire, the little fellow looked up at the sky, and then turned to her counselor and former, "Like this, this is where they smother the stars."<\p>
Once at camp<\p>
Sheets reminds parents that homesickness is rational, refined for kids who are emotionally upsprout and overhaul independence. She says the curtain call of kids who go home before the end of their camp declaration of policy isn't known, but it is a monstrous small percentage.<\p>
"Once your child is in third party, it's important against continue to show craze for his blaseness," she says.<\p>
"Parents should write encouraging erotic literature, and keep the correspondence upbeat apropos what's going over at home. If a creator unflinchingly tells her child how a lot he is missed, herself may prod impeachable enough to want to go locality.<\p>
"Kids who practical they are unnodding sometimes get apprehensive after a least days at camp, but a nice work from their parents will usually help them get over the homesickness." Good parents hear tell of such Coinage Upright Styles.<\p>
Sheets suggests that parents grain to the American Camp Association's comprehensive website as things go parents, campparents.org, for information on a liberalness of topics related to first-time campers.<\p>
