I'm a Canadian and a self-published writer. I love reading, writing, talking about books, promoting other writers (sometimes sporaticaly as I'm still a little erratic about checking social media sites). I will sometimes share snippets of my writing and will talk about it to anyone who will listen. I also have three furballs who live with me and will randomly mention them.
About Writing.
I write about LGBTQIA+ characters because I am one, and there was a lack of representation and access to those stories while I was growing up. I wrote Residual Hate, a story about a lesbian mage who gets tangled up with a conspiracy while trying to help out oddballs.
Okay. On OTB, @sarnai4 asked who I would bring into the real world from Residual Hate. This was actually kind of funny since the characters of Residual Hate were initially a group of dnd character sheets that I wrote for an urban fantasy when I was a teenager. So Adeliva was always a mind mage, Kamatari was a shadow ninja, Hitori was a powerhouse that could seal a person in another dimension. Then they decided, hey, we want our own novel.
The buggers.
To answer the question. Kamatari would die in a world without magic. Hitori would worry too much about Kamatari to settle into the world. Similarly? Adam would panic about Claren’s health, and stress himself into a heart attack. Claren, while he would benefit from modern seizure drugs, would mope without Adam. Though one is platonic and the other is romantic, they are extremely dependant on each other.
Kalen and Aaron would be too worried about their families to settle into the modern world. And yes, @sarnai4 , he would try to escape from your suitcase, coparent agreement notwithstanding.
So to answer the question; Faylin. Faylin is the one who would adjust the best to our world. He is sociable, adaptive, and has no critical responsibilities. He would relish the acceptance of the modern queer community, loves stories, and would basically sweet talk his way into the world.
On the other side; Amir would love to have all the power. No one can oppose mind magic, so he would be able to do as he pleases.
So I did it again; I wrote a prequel to discover what happened before a main story instead of writing down the highlights. Why? Probably because I wanted to write something flirty for February.
And so, Modern AU is now a series on AO3
