My Resolution Before 2021

My resolution before 2021 will be to watch Transformers: Car Robots (the original version of Transformers: Robots In Disguise (2001) with English subtitles), containing 39 episodes.

Seeing some stock footage and comparing it with Transformers: Micron Legend (Armada), Car Robots has similar animation styles (except both anime shows were created by two different animation companies; Studio Gallop for Car Robots, and Actas, Inc. for Micron Legend), the Transformers do not have the traditional blue optics for the Autobots and red optics for the Decepticons (optic color is not a factor to distinguish the difference between Autobots and Decepticons/Predacons), Optimus Prime's mold in both versions look very similar, and both were made in the early 2000's (Car Robots in 2000 or 2001, and Micron Legend in 2002 or 2003).  Also, the Decepticon (I mean Predacon) leader has a more menacing name than Megatron; the leader's name is Gigatron (since "giga" is bigger than "mega").

The overall show looked really impressive, and probably worth watching as many times as I can.  I would assume that, judging by some of the similar animation styles, Micron Legend got their animation ideas from Car Robots; another reason for me to check out Car Robots.

I plan on watching Episode 1 around next month when I have the time; right now, I have to plan when, next month, should I start watching.  Once I have spare time, however, then to Transformers: Car Robots I go!

I’ve been watching this video today, one of many, many quality videos by Sycra, and I’m feeling kind of pissed off that I didn’t learn this sooner. 

I mean, sure, I “learned” this in art school, but I didn’t really get the “analyzing” part of it. It was basically “keep drawing and exploring solutions” but somehow to me that never meant to look critically at every drawing and focus on improving specific things. My approach was always more “cast a wide net and maybe you’ll get lucky and run across something that works/makes the teacher happy”. 

I see so much advice given (especially to artists who are looking to improve) that they should always “draw more”, but hey, that’s really not that helpful on its own. It’s easier to improve if you explore the ways that things DON’T work so that you can understand when they DO work. 

He’s got interesting things to say about using references too, and the way I’ve been using references could certainly be better (see: this blog). I want to use them as a shortcut to a finished drawing that I think looks good, whether or not I really learned a lot from just copying the reference. 

So, I’m going to trying to work more on “iterative drawings” instead of being lazy and relying on so many references. Expect to see fewer polished works here in the future!

resolutions/things I want to try to achieve this year

-(standard resolution) get results that I'm happy with

-work over summer, either research placement (unlikely) or just anything...defo need work experience

-find time to draw/paint

-get a better balance of uni work and social life and stop being such an unsociable loser

-make the right choice of where to study next year, and by right I mean one I won't regret

-be more independant

-be more confident

-eat healthier food because my diet is appaling

-dance more

End of the Year

Holy week vacation.  I still smell like camp fire.  Anywho, it's the end of another year. I didn't meet my resolutions from last year and honestly I'm not too upset. I would have liked to maintain my weight instead of gain ten pounds BUT... this ~160lbs can run a mile without stopping which I couldn't do at 135lbs. I have begun to learn to stand on my own and to not worry about what people think. This Megan has self confidence and can push herself.  

2012's setbacks and successes have set me up to make 2013 kick ass.

I've gained weight this year, but I've also gained motivation to exercise. This year I will clean up my diet to 80/20.

By May 1st, I will be in the 140-150lb range.  On December 31st, 2013 I will weight 120-135lbs. 

I will swim between 2,500 and 5,000 yards a week (excluding shark week and vacations).

I will sign up for my first 5k at some point this year (pending my ankle and knee status).

Moreso, I want to make it a great year for my soul.

I've failed the past two semesters of college (summer I took one class and fall two). I am better than this, I will end this year with a 3.5GPA.

I will come up with a plan to save money. I don't know what this entails yet, but I want to stop living paycheck to paycheck with no wiggle room.

I will get better at taking out my contacts at night. If I'm good, I can get lasik sooner!

I will work on communicating my feelings better. I let myself simmer and it hurts no one but myself. I need to let people in.

I will look for a hobby. Like photography or something. I need me time.

And couponing.  I'm already beginning to learn this now.

I will smile more, I will love more. 

This year I want to learn to love myself.

Resolution.

I figured it out. 

There are so many people at my school that I flat out just admire. I either love the way they dress, they act, they treat others, their humor, or their essence. I am such a coward when it comes to complimenting people though because we live in a society where it is weird to tell someone, "Hey I think you are just beautiful."

I Facebook messaged this one girl that and she took it well, which made me feel great too because that just made her seem more beautiful to me. I am not trying to do this in a sexual or romantic way, I just genuinely think that this one girl is gorgeous and wanted to tell her.

There are other people, people on here that I follow that I think are so cool. They are so talented and cultured and I love it. I love scrolling through their blogs, learning about them, but I feel a sense of detachment. Because there is detachment. It is one thing to read about people through their past posts, it is another to just talk to them.

That is my resolution, to stop being scared and start asking questions. I mean hey, if I want to be a journalist for The Rolling Stone or The New York Times, I am going to have to become more open to approaching people. I try to do it a little bit at a time, but I get too nervous. This year, I will change that. Heck, this semester I will.
