Testing the waters...
The herniated discs have gone back to "normal" and I'm stuck with a lingering sciatic pain down into the butt (and further down the leg after walking for long distances). But since we're on vacation in sunny Mexico, I decided to test the waters with my back. Wednesday I did a short circuit on our patio that consisted of 50 push-ups, 50 crunches, 50 air squats, and 50 glute raises. Not gonna lie - it was tough after being out of commission for 4-5 weeks. Yesterday I felt a slight muscle soreness but the sciatica wasn't worse. I took the day off to make sure nothing got worse throughout the day and it was status quo. So today I went to the gym with the wife. Luckily this isn't like most resort gyms that only have cardio equipment; this one has kbs, dbs, preset barbells, squat rack, box jump platform, jump ropes, battle rope, and tons of cardio equipment and other weight equipment you'd find in a "normal" gym. I didn't want to push it too hard, but wanted to make a good test of it so I did the following: -50 leg extension (50kg/110lb) -50 db bench (12.5kg/27.5lb ea hand) -50 leg press (10 @ 50kg/110lb, 20 @ 70kg/154lb, 20 @ 80kg/176lb) -50 kb snatch (16kg/35lb - biggest kb they had) Now relaxing by the pool again and hoping today yields the same results as yesterday: no extra pain! -T
