Rules instead of resolutions? or Rules to support resolutions?
This year, instead of making a list of resolutions, I try to make a rule. But still, this rule is based on the goals that I want to achieve in this year.
The rule that I made is inspired by the lesson from one of the mentors in Kampus Update who said:
"Kalau punya goal, jangan cuma terpaku sama goalnya aja. Tapi fokus pada gimana cara diri kita mencapai goal tersebut, dan fokus pada apa yang bisa kita kontrol. Goal juga tidak selalu untuk jangka panjang, bisa juga perhari, perminggu, atau perbulan."
I start it by taking a baby steps. I made a month rule to the goal that I wanted to achieve which is: gak boros dan uangnya disimpen untuk beli kado dan travelling. I really want to start a habit of giving something to my close person to show them that I care (because I'm bad at expressing my feelings toward people!). Also, there are many places that I want to visit this year (before I graduated from uni and start working).
The rule is about the list of things that I can do or can't. For example, I can't buy more clothes in January because I have already bought bla bla bla on December and bla bla bla. I put the reason on why I can or can't do something to make sure I follow the rules.
