as both a wikimedia enjoyer and tumblrina i obviously also love archive of our own and their sister sites, one of which is literally an academic journal focused on fandom culture.

it’s called Transformative Works and Cultures and it’s incredible. i definitely recommend it if you like Wikimedia and fandom culture, which, you’re on tumblr, obviously you do!

💮Language Resource • SubLearning 📃

Discovered this resource while I was down in the Tofugu rabbithole today. SubLearning is a website that allows you to select your target language along with your native language (or the language you're learning your TL with) and choose a movie/TV show to get quizzed on vocabulary using the subtitles of said media in both the languages. Here's a screenshot of how it works for Japanese using subtitles from the movie "Howl's Moving Castle":

I haven't used the resource properly yet but found its concept very interesting and fun. You can try it out and share your experiences! (◍•ᴗ•◍)

Insight into the World of Chinese Fantasy Novels

Resource Rec for MDZS newbies!

Getting into MDZS and CQL is really unique for me as a fandom experience because for the first time in my life I have zero idea what the norms for the genre are. Like, I know a little about Taoism and Buddhism and I’ve read a few stories from Chinese folklore, but my actual Chinese novel exposure can be summed up with: The Three Kingdoms, Dream of the Red Chamber and The Three-Body Problem. So the fact that cultivation novels are an entire genre kind of hit me over the head this morning and dragged me down into a (very enjoyable) bottomless pit of articles and blogs and essays.

If anyone else is looking for resources on things like “What is a golden core, actually?” and “What sorts of monsters might be around?” or “Wait, I can only remember two family relationship words,” I can recommend Immortal Mountain as a starting place (looks to be currently inactive, but interesting info). The creator of the site is a Westerner who started collecting answers to common cultivation novel questions in one place, and there are lots of useful links to other resources as well. The article section includes some interesting stuff about cores and Taoism, etc, and the glossary section has handy lists of idioms and relationship words, a bestiary and some general genre-specific terms as well.

If more experienced fans know of other good resources, please add on to this post and let me know!

it's been so healing to read about how people really feel about tea blogs in inner child venting. it makes me feel not so alone, to see people attach their names to a pov that can feel so limited based on how consistent posts on those blogs are. thank you for everyone who decided to speak against it when i was too afraid to, your opinions feel like a new path ahead.

Really appreciate the recent initiative of some coders to offer free high quality skins and codes. If rpc needs a cultural refresh, this could help. Also, the code channels on Inner Child resource discord is very welcoming and helpful. People leap forward to help with all kinds of trouble shooting. It's great

Thankful RPGD is still around and staying out of the drama. It's quiet and helpful, ask a question get thoughtful diverse answers, it's such a nice change of pace from what else is available.

Genuine question as someone new to the jcink scene! Other than tumblr ads how do you find websites and resources?! I wanna hop in so bad but I feel like I’m missing a chunk of sites!

there are a lot of resource discords, nonnie. i posted a list here previously that may help. there are plenty i missed though so please add to this list in the comments, friends.
