ReStory launches this summer - Gematsu

ReStory, a simulation game that lets you run your own electronics repair shop in Y2K-era Japan, will launch for PC via Steam this summer, publisher tinyBuild and developer Mandragora announced. A demo is available now as part of Steam Next Fest: June 2025 Edition

The demo offers an expanded look at the pre-release version of the game and introduces new gadgets like the Atari Lynx (as a part of the official collaboration with Atari) and Patento BS that draws inspiration (but not too much inspiration) from one of the most iconic gaming handhelds. Another addition to the demo compared to the playtest build is the airbrush drawing tool, which allows players to visually customize devices – some of the community creations can be seen in the latest trailer.

Y2K-era Japan electronics repair shop simulator ReStory announced for PC - Gematsu

Publisher tinyBuild and I Am Future developer Mandragora have announced ReStory, a simulation game that lets you run your own electronics repair shop in Y2K-era Japan. It will launch for PC via Steam in 2026.

“ReStory is my nostalgia for a time when we shared polyphonic ringtones via infrared ports and rewound cassette tapes with a pencil,” said Mandragora studio director Evgeny Kisterev in a press release. “When every device felt unique. Now we just hold these screens in our hands, and they all look the same. Japanese companies always amazed me with their influence on global technology, which made 2000s Tokyo the perfect setting. I can’t wait to share this nostalgic feeling with players and discover how many other grown-up kids remember that era fondly!”

I tried a new game demo released on Steam last week: ReStory, and it was love at first sight!!! 🤗💕

It's the perfect balance of cozy atmosphere, management, and nostalgia. I've already spent way too many hours on it, and it's only a small snippet of the whole game 😅 So I just had to make some fan art of my favorite character. And yes, my favorite character is a bucket! 🪣✨ That game is this good!
